There are so many meaning for Cannabis. If we ask around what is their definition of Cannabis everyone will have their own meanings. There are many reasons Cannabis can be used such as it uses in the medical field. There is a big debate in the US on whether or not to legalize Marijuana. Legalization the least potent form of Cannabis can help in treating diseases. There are some good and bad in the use of cannabis products.
Cannabis comes from a plant called cannabis sativa that can be grown in many different weather conditions, but it grows wildly in tropical or mild temperatures. According to the Institute of Drug Abuse “Research has shown that marijuana's negative effects on attention, memory, and learning can last for days or weeks after the acute effects of the drug wear off, depending on the user’s history with the drug” (IDA 2016). The drug decreases memory and obstructs learning. People that use cannabis are more likely to have a problem in their work because of their inability to pay attention. They are also likely to be less educated than non-cannabis users.
There is a big use of marijuana among adolescences and young adults. There is a study that shows a huge number of middle and high school students used marijuana across the country is based on the Monitoring the Future survey.
The National Survey on Drug Use and Health reported in 2015 that “Marijuana is the most commonly used illicit drug with 22.2 million users in the past-month” (What is…, 2016). The uses of marijuana among adolescents have been steady over the years. The numbers were high in the past year according to the survey. “In 2015, 11.8 percent of 8th-graders reported marijuana use in the past year. Among 10th-graders, 25.4 percent had used marijuana in the past year.
