We have to houses of congress the house of representatives and the Senate. These houses are put in place to make that power isn't based on the size of your party but based on your beliefs as a human. Most people believe that they are in place that is place to balance interest in small and large states. Back before we became a country our founding fathers believed this form to be most effective.
Three major differences between the house and the senate is constitutional powers , structure
, and committee procedures. Artice 1 section 7 gives the house the power to initiate all revenue bills , Article 2 sec. 2 gives the Senate the right to give advice and consent to treaties and appointments. The structure for the house is 435 members with 2 year terms more committees and subcommittees. Meanwhile the Senate holds 100 members for 6 year terms and fewer committees and subcommittees.
There are many similarities but there are 3 major ones. Number 1 being that there is a majority leader in both houses. Number 2 being that there is no term limit meaning a senator or rep. can serve for life. Number 3 being that the number of seats a state gets is based on the amount of people living in that state.
The legislative branch may be the most important because besides the president they are the only people that pass laws. If we as citizens do not choose these folks wisely we will not be represented right. As we move forward with life people shall think more closely when picking who to vote for the next time around.
