Unlike textbooks, tablets allow for personalization. Email applications can be downloaded and accessed during class periods when tablets are not needed along with gaming and texting applications. Tablets also allow for a student to look up multiple answers easier, but not guaranteed that it is the right one. In textbooks there is only one right answer and does not leave room for word manipulation like in tablets. Email and texting applications make communication within the classroom easier as well, which can increase the amount of cheating and decrease the actual amount of work that is being completed. Teachers could begin to find more student failure due to their attention only being on their tablet and not the lesson during class time. Textbooks require attention to get the work done, and anything not learned in class can easily be found in a section of the book. Unlike tablets, if you don’t pay attention, you have no memory of the lesson and no reference either. Textbooks also don’t need personalization. They come standard for everyone and there are no special needs.
