JOB DESCRIPTION
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF DAYCARE CENTER
Under the direction of the Director of Child Care, is responsible for assisting the Director in the operation of the Leann’s Sky Day Care; assists in the evaluation and supervision of employees; assists in the direction and supervision of educational programs; assists the Director in the administration of the Department budget including the accounting for Child Care tuition received, and performs related duties as needed. Description of Duties
• Assist the Director by performing highly responsible administrative detail of a supervisory, operational or technical nature.
• Conduct and coordinate management of statistical and accounting data including complex arithmetical calculations.
• Maintain and carry out adopted state laws, policies of the Board of Trustees, contractual agreements and district administrative procedures.
• Assist the Director in the supervision and evaluation of the performance of all assigned personnel in accordance with the district’s adopted guidelines for evaluation and assessment; recommend appropriate action in cases of substandard performance.
• Interpret policies, goals and objectives of the district and child care program to the staff and clients of the district.
• Respond to parent and/or community concerns and complaints through appropriate problem solving techniques.
• Assist in scheduling the work of the department employees.
• Plan and supervise the educational programs and facilities and provide a responsive environment for the optimum growth and development of students.
• Provide temporary coverage for other department employees in unforeseen emergency absences as needed.
• Assist in preparing and monitoring the program budget.
• Prepare reports required by Federal, State, and County agencies, and other correspondence, statistical and analysis and financial statements.
• Oversee regular accounting procedures of all income and expenditures, as well as equipment and supply inventories.
• Assist in supervising student enrollment procedures and collection of enrollment fees and tuition charges, and regularly monitor cash
flow.
• Maintain an active public relations program to promote enrollment and communicate the activities of the Child Care Centers.
• Maintain professional competence through appropriate professional growth activities.
• Represent the district at appropriate local and state meetings concerning the childcare program.
• Communicate orally and in writing to parents, students, and staff.
• Select and requisition necessary materials, supplies, food, and equipment.
• Render first aid treatment to injured and ill students.
Job requirements
Education and experience
In order to be considered for this position, you must meet all state licensing requirements, including: * Must be at least 18 yrs of age. * Bachelor’s degree in early childhood, child development or Bachelors degree in business administration (management). * Associates degree in early childhood or related field with Florida State Children’s Program Administrator Credential and two years of full time teaching experience in a child day care center family or group family day care home or other early childhood program and two years of experience supervising staff. * Must have at least one year of management experience in a licensed child care facility
Personal Qualities
He/she must be physically able to perform that job of an assistant director of Daycare center. He/she must have management experience, interpersonal skills, communication skills, administrative and budget management skills, time management, ability to delegate effectively, ability to deliver staff induction, job talks and demonstrations, and knowledge & understanding of all aspects of childcare center. He/ she must honesty and reliability.
