Letter To Isabella Louise
I, Jeremy Lim, affirm my love to you, Isabella Louise, as I invite you to share my life in sickness and in health, until death do us part.
For the past eight years, I’ve seen you at your best and at your worst. I’ve seen you walk into the room in a towel, and today, we leave this church as husband and wife. I still remember asking you to be my girlfriend. You had that same cheesy smile that you definitely have on your face at this very moment, just because I know you’re thinking about it. I remember my heart racing as I asked you back when we were only seventeen years old. My heart raced just as fast when I asked you to marry me. I even remember those butterflies I got before picking you up for our dates. And here you are, standing before

France, November 19, 1916 Dear Martha, I am writing this bilious letter from the deep trenches and piles of dead bodies the most recent battle, the Battle of the Somme has left behind. Before you worry, I am doing quite well, considering the bit of shrapnel that got stuck in my head while I was running among the yelling men, bloodied bodies and screaming explosives. The men are once again smoking cigarettes and talking about nonsense, joking about loathsome Germans and evading death. Unlike them, I am feeling a pit in my stomach. I can still smell the acrid black artillery smoke, and see the ghosts of friends who got shot next to me.…

Jim just won the big fight that Joe had got him. He won $250! I was sure that something would go wrong, and Jimmy wouldn’t have come home to us safely. His hand had just healed and Joe came marching in getting him a new fight! Although they promised it was just a one-time thing, I have my doubts. I just don’t want Jimmy fighting anymore. We can’t afford it! Everything is bad enough without having to worry about Jim’s health or – god forbid – losing him! Jimmy really believes in President Roosevelt fixing things, but we all have our doubts that he is any different than Hoover. When we lost all of our money with what Jim had invested from his boxing earnings into what we thought was safe in the stock market, we lost everything. We had to move to a poor neighborhood, crammed in with everyone else from the community. I should be thankful though; at least we haven’t been forced to move into a Hooverville! I don’t think I could survive there, let alone bring Jay, Howard, and Rosemarie into that kind of danger! I hear all the time about riots and fires that burst out there. That kind of danger is scary just to imagine. I feel like once you move into one of those shanties, there is no hope of ever coming out of this mess.…

Recently, some disturbing information was brought to my attention about one of Lyman Highschool's staff members. While in one of the restrooms I oveheard a convorsation about one of the theachers here at Lyman: Mrs. Neris. The other students were talking about a transgender student (who I personally do not know) and one of the mentioned that Mrs. Neris had given that student a referal for using the boy's restroom. (the student is originally female.) I was absolutely shocked, disgusted, and appalled. I felt so bad for that student. I can't imagine how embarassing and belittling that could feel. I know that a main goal of lyman higschool is to create a safe and comfortable learning environment where students can feel accepted…

"Okay. Thank you," I said. "Anytime. Love you," she said. "Love you too. Bye," I responded as I hung up. I unlocked the door and opened it. When I stepped out I noticed Val was standing in front of the door. "Why are you up," I asked. "You never bring you phone to the bathroom and when you do it freaks me out," he said. "Okay?" I said. He looked me in the eyes for a second and the said," do you really not want to get married?" "I...I don't know," I said. "Well it's either all in or all out. I'm not going to be in a relationship where your not 100% committed," he said. "Val," I said as tears formed in my eyes," just give me some time to think please." "No Jen if you aren't going to be committed, how will I know if you'll even show up for the wedding?" He said angrily. "You know what if you don't give me any choice in this, we're through," I said. "Here's your stupid ring. Now get your stuff and get out," I screamed throwing my ring at him. He went into my room and packed up all his stuff and walked out, slamming the door behind him. When I heard the door close, I knew it was over. I fell down and sobbed. A few seconds later I felt someone come hug me. I looked up to see Addison. I fell on her and cried…

I leave this letter today to you in hope that you will find it when you have become big enough to learn about your world. Today I have an important revelation to make, the world you grow up in might not be the same as what I had. You know me as your granddad but to the world, I am a scientist who gave the world the most destructive weapon ever to exist. What will change your world is science. Science is something objective, it comes with a goal. But its application is numerous and sometimes unethical, what happened yesterday proved the latter.…

In all honesty, I knew that I could no longer draw myself away from the pills that were taking my troubles away and destroying them. However, I knew that without you Sarah Lynn, those happy little pain killers would have no effect, as you were the real pain killer in my life. Now I know, that as pain relieving that they were, these drugs were removing her from my life. Pill by pill, they broke her down, both figuratively to the carefree person she became in her final moments, and literally drawing her to the overdose. From those long and cheerful nights of partying, to the fun filled days of adventuring, to even the substance abusing that we did, our relationship was rebuilt by the strong and caring emotions we gave to one another, and for that, I have you to thank, Sarah…

I am writing to tell you how I feel about the fight that we had over my betrothal to Count Paris. I felt that I have always been I very obedient and loving daughter to both of you, although the Nurse has treated me more like a daughter then either of you have. I even went as far as to say that I would not look at anyone that you did not approve of! So, it was no surprise then how shocked and hurt I felt when you told me that you were going to force me to marry Paris if I did not want to on my own free will.…
