Letter To Mom Research Paper
To Dad, it's impossible to thank you for everything you've done, from loving me unconditionally, where you taught me many traditional values and the importance of success. I could not have asked for a better parent or role model.

To Mom, thank you for all of the wonderful memories of growing up, for your continued support, and encouragement. You show me that anything is possible, with faith, hard work and determination.

Finally, this dedication would not be complete without a very special thank you to my wonderful teacher who give me all of the encouragement and feedback during this writing process -thanks for always being there for me!

In Southeast Asia, in the country of Vietnam, there was a boy who was raised in the beautiful city of Saigon. Now his character had made him shine above all others. For he was kind to the people he met, he was intelligent, especially in academics, and he had thrived to succeed at whatever he set his mind to. But what triumphs all of these great characteristics was his fear of nothing. This may not seem impossible, for all humans have some fear. Whether it is a fear for spiders or the fear of heights, something terrifies all of us individuals. But believe me when I tell you nothing could create an obstacle for this

In this case, Mothers Work Inc., a leading designer, producer, and vendor of maternity clothing, is accused of pregnancy discrimination. Cynthia Papageorge, a former manager at one of the company's stores, said she was fired after the company vice president, Frank Mullay, made a surprise inspection. She claimed that Mullay questioned whether she was capable of doing her job in her "condition". Days later, Mullay allegedly directed Papageorge's supervisor, Jan Dowe, to fire her, who was later also fired for inadequate job performance after taking maternity leave. It is clear to me that despite several laws in place to prevent this particular type of discrimination, Mothers Work Inc. was either blatantly ignoring the law, or…

He’s gone through the experience so it has a little bit of meaning to him. He overcame the norm because the Indian society thought it was unacceptable or wasn’t possible to become successful. He wants his audience to know that he’s been in the same situation they’ve been in but there’s always hope. Towards the very end of the book, he claims that he visits schools as much as possible because when he was younger he didn’t get the opportunity. He approaches this by explaining two sides of classrooms. “Many are writing their own poems, short stories and novels. They have read my books. They have read many other books. They look at me with bright eyes and arrogant wonder. They are trying to save their lives.”(p358) These children who were just like him when he was younger, that had an interest and wanted to change something about their life instead of being a stereotypical Indian. “Then there are the sullen and already defeated Indian kids who sit in the back rows and ignore me with theatrical precision. The pages of their notebooks are empty. They carry neither pencil nor pen. They stare out the window. They refuse and resist. “Books,” I say to them. “Books,” I say. I throw my weight against their locked doors. The door holds. I am smart. I am arrogant. I am lucky. I am trying to save our lives.”(p358) These are the students who don’t have much of an interest but Alexie is still trying to get through to these…

After doing this research, I have come to comprehend a lot of things lone parents are going through due to either the policies or being a woman. These are affecting lone parents in many ways, such as, low paying jobs, health, and not able to balance their work place demands and family domain. I discovered that the more single parents and their children age, the more their needs increase. Single parents are often “co-signed” to low paying jobs because of their low level of education and work experience, which I tapped from the previous research paper I did before this. My thought about social policy that surrounds lone parents is the inequality job pay between men and women, and less opportunity given to lone parents seeking employment. This…

I hate my foster mama, and so does many other people. She is way too violent all the time: “She possessed the unique ability to aggravate almost anyone she ever met” (Zusak 35). She has a temper issue. When she cannot control her temper, she usually beats me with a wooden spoon. Also, she swears too much. I have had no idea that… certain words existed until she would not stop using them. Because of her, I can swear fluently in German and English. Some adults might say, “What’s so bad about swearing?” Sure it is okay for adults to swear, but I am ten. Why is it a good idea to let a ten-year-old girl know how to swear fluently in two languages? I hat my foster mama so much. Actual mama, why could you have not kept me? Both of our lives would…

Encouraging a healthy self-esteem can be done as simply as asking a child what s/he learned at school and actually listening to what the child says. Giving the child attention and feedback will help them to feel like an important part of the family. Some people feel that in order to foster a child’s self-esteem means to buy them all the popular toys, clothes, accessories etc. When in truth, simply allowing the child to feel loved, accepted for who they are, and important will increase or maintain the child’s self-esteem. Society today tends to focus on the physical attributes of people rather than what is on the inside. There are many beautiful people who are seen as ugly because their personality is such. On the other hand there are physically unattractive people who are seen as beautiful because their personality and kindness for others shines…
