I had siblings. Second, I believe that because I have been given the chance to travel many places, I am a more independent person. Because I have been on flights by myself, and explored places by myself, I know that I do not have to depend on others to get tasks done. I also feel that seeing different cultures while on travel has helped me become a very open-minded person who is open to many ideas. Independence and open-mindedness are two characteristics in me that I am very proud of. Lastly, because I am involved in many activities, I have found that my friend group is larger, and I have more confidence trying things many people would not expect me to do. Being one in three eighth graders at my old school to do band since fourth grade (when you start) until eighth grade, I have become close friends with people I naturally would not know very well had I not done band. I also have found that doing band has raised my confidence level because I realized that you are not considered a “band nerd” unless you think of yourself that way. Additionally, I have found participating in piano and band has helped me not only in the arts, but in sports, because my sense of rhythm and commitment to things has improved. At St.
John’s, I will be more willing to try new clubs, sports, or opportunities that I do not feel very comfortable with or that many of my friends are not doing. I want to become very close with a variety of people at St. John’s who participate in JROTC, band, sports, clubs and other activities. I will use my confidence to try to participate in field hockey, lacrosse, ski club, entrepreneurial center and many other activities, as well as continue playing the piano at home. Also, in order to undertake all of those thoughts, I must stay organized and responsible with my studies in the Scholars program. I am extremely thrilled to become a St. John’s cadet particularly for the excellent academics and athletics, but also the wonderful school community and school spirit present throughout the school day, all the sports games, but especially, football games. I am so excited to cheer my schoolmates on and off the field. By using my responsibility, confidence, and open-mind, I believe the next four years as a St. John’s scholar will be a blast.
Sincerely,
Clare Comstock
