give is to make sure that you read and frequently check your syllabus for every class. Most teachers will try to follow their syllabus as closely as possible. With them doing that it gives you almost a set date on assignments and tests. In high school, you could probably get away with turning in your paper late, but here most teachers won’t even accept your work even if it is only a few minutes late. It is now your responsibility to make sure you have your work done and that it gets turned in on time. Not only will classes not accept late work, but the teachers might not give you much warning about upcoming tests because it is stated in your syllabus. Therefore, keeping an eye on your syllabus is very important to succeeding in college.
The final piece of advice that I would like to give to you is procrastination is very hard to avoid.
I will be the first to admit that I am really bad about putting things off until the last minute. Whether it be studying for a test or filling out scholarship applications, I have a tendency to put it off. Just recently I let my procrastination get the best of me when it came to studying for a test. I was pretty confident about what I knew, but the night before the test I started looking over the material and realized that I didn’t know it as well as I thought. As a result of my procrastination I did not do as well on the test as I would have liked. Now that I have seen what can happen I am allotting more time to study for test than I did
before.
All the experiences that I had helped shape into a better writer and student. I hope that the advice that I gave you about will help you succeed in your W-131 class, and every other class that you take.
