People communicate so that you can tell people how you feel and what you need. You communicate to find out information.
1.1.2 Explain how effective communication affects all aspects of your work
Communication from my room leader and manager needs to be clear in order for me to undertake the tasks I am asked to do. Effective communication with children means actively listening to them and observing their body language to understand their needs and ensure they are safe.
1.1.3 Why should you observe an individuals’ reactions when communicating with them?
All communication has an effect on the individual you are communicating with. It is important that you observe the effects so that any problems can be identified and dealt with.

1.3.4 What different sources of information and support or services enable more effective communication?
Effective communication can be supported by visual aids, such as pictures. Individuals with a hearing difficulty may be supported by technical devices, such as hearing aids. Maintaining eye contact and touch may also support individuals to communicate. In some instances it may be more effective to write something down.

1.4.1/3/4 What do you understand by the term confidentiality and when might you need to pass on confidential information?
Confidentiality means that the things told to you must be kept to yourself and not passed on to anyone else. You may have to pass on confidential information if the person is being harmed or at risk of harm or abuse.
