Q1. Outline the team leader’s role in motivating the team
The team leaders role in motivating the team is to try and ensure that everyone is fully motivated for the right reasons so that all members are working together to achieve the same goals. The main aspect of the team leader’s role as motivator is to present a positive and motivated role model to the rest of the team. If the team leader was to lack motivational skills then they can’t expect the whole team to be fully motivated. When someone lacks motivation, it will eventually lead to poor performance by the team which could lead to the team leader being replaced by someone else who is enthusiastic and can also motivate other people to reach their group target goals.
Q2. Describe the team leader’s role in setting objectives for the team
The team leader should have a clear vision of the goal and the objectives that are fully required. Although it is the team leader’s job to set objectives, they should do this in a way that ensures that the team members feel involved and consulted. Team Leaders also need to encourage other team members to set their own goals and objectives and adopt a monitoring role to ensure that they are appropriate to the team goal. If the team Leader wasn’t to set objectives, then it could result in a team performance that could be chaotic and ineffective. It could also result in individual members that mat set their own objectives in conflict with others. People will also become de-motivated.

The team
