Introduction
This unit tests your knowledge, understanding and capability in the area of leading the team in planning, reviewing and achieving work to meet objectives. The tasks set out below are designed to enable you to demonstrate that you meet all of the learning outcomes and assessment criteria for this unit.
Scenario
You are the team leader, leading a team of 6 staff. You have been assigned to organise a ‘Wiltshire College has Talent’ event. This will be a fundraiser for local charities. You have NO budget and will have to encourage participation for this worthwhile cause.
Task 1:
Write a short piece illustrating how you transfer directions from your supervisor/line manager into clear work objectives for your team. (Ian Browne – hold a fundraising event)

Task 2:
Produce a work plan for your team which ensures the objective(s) are achieved. Explain how you might involve the team members in developing the work plan and why it is important to have their involvement. Identify how you will communicate this plan to the team members so that they are all aware of their own objectives and responsibilities.

Task 3:
Describe the process of how and when you will review the performance of each team member against their objectives and also the team as a whole against objectives.
Identify the tools and techniques available to assist you in this activity. Explain what you will do if the work is found to be different from the agreed standards and how you will ensure the agreed standard is met.
