The book can also be called the book of murmuring because from the beginning to the end it is filled with the spirit of rebellion.
The book focuses on the land of promise and their journey to get there. The book of Numbers should read in connection with Exodus, Leviticus, and Deuteronomy.
A new generation was numbered. God was still caring for them. Moses was still their leader. God spoke and Moses listened.
In Leviticus it deals with the believer's worship. Numbers deals with the believer's walk. As they were walking toward the promise land they did not have faith in God. God's plan was for
the children to go straight to the promise land of Canaan, but, they would not.
When they left Mount Sinai and marched to Kadesh-barnea after their failure at this place. They began to wander until that generation died in the wilderness. The children of Israel would have gone into the promise land immediately.Because of their sins, and unbelief they continue to wander.
God was a good God to them. He gave them a cloud to guide them by day and a pillar of fire by night. Even though they did not know where they were Going, but they knew the Lord was guiding them. We have to allow the Lord to guide us today.
God was making a way for the Israelites. The Israelites refused to listen to God. God offers the perfect way and they were refusing it. Once it was gone it was gone forever. We must trust God and believe every promise. If God said it
In His word it will come to pass.
