Life After High School
When I was fourteen years old in the ninth grade I decided to drop out of High School. I reassure myself that working was more important at the time than sitting in a classroom for eight hours. As years went by I needed to find myself a better paying job but I had one problem and that was not having an education.
After working under the table for so long I knew I needed to move up in life. I wanted a better paying job. I put applications in everywhere but nobody wanted to hire someone without having either a GED or High school diploma. I knew I had to do something, I couldn't bare working full time making pocket change. Something had to be done!
My motivation was my fight, I never really had a voice, and I never really took school seriously but I knew I needed a change and that was going back to school. I thought to myself, was it too late, and am I too old to go back now to get my diploma. A friend of mine told me about this web site she went to and received a legitimate High school diploma. The very next day I called the school and got some information. What was nice about this School was you receive an actual High school diploma, not your General education development (GED).

If I would have stayed in school life would have been different. A diploma means everything, it is what you are as a person, and it leads to better opportunities in the working field. After working in factories most of my life my body was wore out from the physical labor. So I made a decision to go back to school once again. I applied for college at the age of 29 years old. The list of career opportunities was overwhelming and I had to choose one. It took some time to decide what trade I wanted to pursue and a career that I would like. After one semester of my basics I chose to attend big sandy community college and engage in a two year associates degree as an industrial

During my time in high school, both inside and outside of school, I often had the reoccurring thoughts of a necessity to go somewhere with my life. During my senior year of high school I began to realize as any young man that comes to that part of life that I was about to begin to make choices on their own for the first time. I was the first in my family to be getting an education past high school and the pressure was on me to further my studies and like the son of immigrant workers I was expected to go above and beyond the point where my parents arrived. I was all for going to school and getting a degree but then reality struck and I had to begin to think of ways of paying…

I left college for a year to come back home and work. At the time that I left school I didn’t think that it was for me. I was working my butt off at school every day with no reward. At times I felt as if it was all for nothing. I didn’t have a job, I needed money and I stayed stressed out and bogged down with all different types of coursework. I just felt that my talents and effort could be put to better use elsewhere. I felt that if I dropped out and became employed full time that that situation would better suit me. However, after having had taken the working man’s route and still barely making ends meet I feel like I made an irrational decision by leaving college. I also found out that a college graduate has the potential to make up to a million more dollars in their lifetime as opposed to those with only a high school diploma. That tiny bit of information was enough to change my mind and lead me towards wanting to get back into school. I made a hasty decision in leaving school in the first place. I was more concerned about my current living situation instead of being focused on long term goals and how successful I wanted to be later on in life. I guess I can say that I had a little growing up to do. Now I can confidently say that I’m more focused than I’ve ever been in my entire life and that nothing will hinder me from becoming successful.…

The main reason why I came back to school is due to two reasons. I dropped out of school my senior to give birth to my son. I felt I owed it to myself to get my high school diploma. It took me eleven years to do it. As my son grew older I realized I should be a better example to him and earn my degree. Second, in order to move up at my place of business, I need a degree. The VP’s will not consider me without a…

Some people drop out of high school because they want to help their families, but when those people grow up and try to get a better job, they will get rejected. This is because it is required to have a high school diploma or a college degree to get certain jobs. Also, according to Missy Remiss, “Those without a high school diploma have lower earnings, higher unemployment, lower job satisfaction-they even have a higher likelihood of ending up in jail or on public assistance.” To conclude, students need to stay in school until they are…

    Furthering My Education

I’m going to talk about going back to school farthing my education. From the time i graduated from high school i always want to go back to school. I never took the time to do so. I would always look into going back to school or talk about going back to school but never took the time to go. Until one day I started working in child care and that moated me to go even more. Going back to school was hard for me because i looked at it as if I didn't have any money to go to school. I over came all that and went on line to apply for school, and now I am attending Ashford University College. I am going for my Associates in Early Child Hood. Therefore, returning back to school to complete my degree after 7 years was very rational and thinking it out it me and my husband that it was time. We are sometime told that experience is the key to get the perfect job, but I disagree with that, have a degree in that field will help you in and getting that opportunity from a manager or boss will landed you that perfect job. But in years in the workforce I have learned that is not always the case. Employers will sometime use the fact that you don’t have a degree against you and after miss some jobs I really want I refuse to let this happen to me every again. I want from this day forward to be armed with everything that the next candidates have and so I can feel that I belong with them. Today’s workforce is forever growing and in order to land that big jobs or promotion you must be able to compete with other and have extra special things that make you stand out. Experience is very important almost key in some cases, but in my opinion having a college degree will help and will make you very marketable and wanted. Sometimes have a degree or other credential will set you apart from all the other candidates and most of the times that will work in you advantage to…

My mother, father, and step mother have all gone to school and gotten degrees and are living the lives that they've wanted to live. Others in my family who have not gone to school have all been examples of what I do not want to be. I felt like school was not important; that most of the things I have learned in school was futile. I thought of education as a unbearable punishment that I was forced into. All this changed the second year of highschool, when I joined the Police Explorers program. The program help me to understand that there is another world waiting for me after high school, and everything that I learn will matter forever in my life. Nelson Mandela once said “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”. With education it is possible to change not only your own life but also the whole world. My grades in school immediately rose after joining the program, because I took education more seriously. My behavior also changed after I joined the program; I learned to appreciate every little thing in life. The program showed me that I was a fighter and that there is no reason to quit until you reach the goal you set out for. I have from that point taken up on every opportunity to receive my education to its fullest. I also became thankful for the fact that I was able to receive this education, which many around the world do not have the opportunity to have. People should use their education to help others who have not had the opportunity to get a decent education. I will be more than grateful to have the opportunity to further expand my education at Esperanza College of Eastern…
