There are several methods of monitoring the development of children and young people. Standard measurements are the way children and young people are measured in their development from birth onwards, children are weighed and measured even before they are born to ensure that they are growing at a good rate. Health visitors as well as nurses at the local medical centre will monitor developments after birth. The ‘norms’ described earlier in this project are the main way of monitoring…

Life expectancy is one measure used to determine health priority areas. Life expectancy is the projected average number of years of life remaining to a person of a particular age, it is based on the current death rates and changes over time. Having high life expectancy in a population shows the relative health of a population, however, it also shows that it is an aging population meaning that more priority will have to be placed on funding for aged health care facilities such as nursing homes.…

Hello, my name is Christine Coleman. I just recently like 8 weeks ago had the most precious little baby girl ever! She is in the picture at the top of my page. I watched the video life before birth and let me just say before I watched that video I never for one minute thought about what actually takes place inside a female. I mean I knew like the basics I guess you could say, but the way that they described the sperm and the journey that they have to go thru to even fertilize an egg is really amazing to me. I was a little grossed out by the sperm cemetery. It’s amazing how 99% of the sperm are killed instantly and only about 3000 of them make it thru just the vagina. Then only certain sperm with a chemical coating make it thru the fallopian tubes. Once they make it thru they can finally rest and wait. The releasing egg sends chemical signals luring the sperm towards it. Once the sperm enters the egg it instantly sparks electricity through its surface, this shock wave changes the egg membrane irreversibly and locks out the remaining sperm. In just 24 hours one sperm out of a trillion has overcome the obstacles of finally being able to fertilize an egg.…
After calculating my life expectancy I found out that I have a probability of living up to 96 years. When I finished calculating and saw the number I was quite happy and satisfied even though sometimes I wish I could live more than that. It has always been my desire to live up to an old age. This life expectancy calculation gave me hope and courage to work hard and to live a positive life so that I can live up to more than my life expectancy.…
