My greatest Influence
Everyone in life has a person or a group of people that has influenced him or her the most. As for me, that one special person is Maria Martinez, my mother. She is the youngest of five siblings and was born in a small pueblo in Mexico. This amazing person taught me the values and principles of life and also the importance of family. My mother’s courage and determination to make a good life here in the United States for herself and the family, instead of just coming over to the United States and expecting everything handed to her. She is always trying to find new ways and ideas to improve the family life because she wants the best for me and my brother to succeed in life. Throughout my school years she has given me guidance, support, and encouragement to get where I am now in college.
My mother always stood by my side and guided me to become a hardworking person and teaching me the good and bad of life. She will always tell me “hijo nunca hagas drogas,” which translate son never do drugs. The reason is because she once told a story when she first arrived in the United States at the age of eighteen in 1989 and lived in Passaic, New Jersey with a friend for four years and witness first hand people doing drugs outside of the apartment building. My mother saw how drugs can ruin a person life and seeing that those people doing drugs do not have a bright future ahead. My kind hearted, caring and loving mother made sure that I would not become those people my mother saw ruin their life with drugs. My mother took care of me and wanted to have a son with a bright future. My mother guidance guided me to do my best in school and never let her down. I want my mother to be happy for me and proud to rise me.
My beloved mother positive influence gave me all of her support in my life. I will always know that I will have someone that I can trust and support me in the good and bad situation. When her
