Anything a Man Can Do, We Can Do Better…. Women and war are considered to have little to nothing in common. Traditionally, women have been associated with creating life rather than destroying it, but all that is about to change…. With the controversy over women in combat positions, the never-ending, possibly unresolvable battle for gender equality continues to make history.

Thus women in the military are being held back simply because they are women. Such an idea is not only completely at odds with military ethics, but is distinctly un-American” (McGregor). Equal opportunity is what founded our Nation, it is the very backbone of America many would agree. To believe that everyone is “treated equally” and given “equal opportunity” even today is just native’. Prejudice still occurs in our society today, just look around. McGregor affectively argues for women in combat roles. Restrictions on women in combat positions denies them promotions, in which limits current and future earnings, directly affecting their retirement benefits, and denies them opportunities for advancement.
There are many parts to be considered in the next argument made in her article. Will women be able to pass the same physical requirements standards as men? Most opinions disagree with this, arguing women are not as strong as men, if able to pass the same physical requirements that are demanded of men, their endurance will be lower than that of their fellow soldiers. For those women that seek the advancement in positions of the military, they should be considered by their qualification rather than their gender.
