Lily Alternate Ending
Lily could not keep her mind on her projects at home so she hurried down to the cabin. She had hoped she would find Marc there but deep down, she sort of knew he wasn’t. She could not help but hope anyway.
She made herself at home since he told her she should and fixed some lunch. While she ate, she opened a new log; her mind followed and absorbed every event closely, not one word escaped her notice.

She was most embarrassed about the way she teased Marc when he changed her tire. If only she had known why he happened to be there. But he didn't seem to mind. Aunt Arey... her tire... meeting the man of her dreams... So many things made sense now. All the little hints he tried to hide... all the unfinished sentences... she understood finally why he could never tell her. “I never would have believed you, sadly. But you came into my life that day, and I never want to be without you again... no matter where you are from.” Lily had always referred to her journal as her best friend and now she realized just how true that really was. She smiled and her eyes misted as more implications sunk in. This book she poured her heart and soul into... saved her. Then a slow, sly grin crossed her lips. If Marc was reading her journal again... and he most likely was... why not send him a subtle message? She went home and picked up her pen. She thought for a moment then began to write. Marc, I miss you so much. Io ti amo. I love you more than I ever dreamed I could love anyone. Please... please come home to me

I want to tell myself everything that I wish I would have known sooner; however, I never do. Although it is a painful wound that seeming will never close, I do not wish to change the past. Everything happens for a reason, and I do not want to put my own selfish desires, before God’s plan. As I talk to the young man, I pretend to be someone else. I go by the name Jon. I listen and remember as he pours out his heart to me, like he always does when I have this dream. “So, Jon, have you ever been in love?” With a smirk on my face, I know exactly where this conversation is going. It used to hurt to talk about Anne. At first, I couldn’t even bring myself to have the conversation, but now, it is my favorite. “Do you mean with a woman, or myself?” Shmuel leans back, balancing his chair on its two back legs and laughs, “Don’t play with me old man.” Shmuel’s words are playfully cruel. His defiance and rebellion brings back vivid memories of when he was young, playful, and dumb. I neatly fold my hands together on the table before us, and wait. I listen to all he has to say about the love of his life, Anne. He talks about her fiery red hair that matches perfectly with her attitude, about the freckles on her nose, and about the way she sometimes snorts when she laughs. He tells the story of how he took her boating on their first date and how the boat had flipped over. Shmuel had thought that the date was ruined, but to his…
