Inside is literally better than Limbo in every possible way. Not only is it better but it completely crushes Limbo over the head with zero remorse. The art style is far more intriguing, the controls are more responsive, and the scenery feels more alive than anything in Limbo. The player is kept front and center in a 2D track. Enemies and objects continually come from the background into the foreground with you. This makes the world seem 2.5D which is fairly unique in this age and day. In a game like this puzzles are certainly important. The design of Inside’s puzzles make you feel like a genius for solving them without making you frustrated. They keep you stumped long enough to try different solutions out but the clear answer is never outside the realm of thought. This game’s design is pure genius. The controls are simple but perfect for the experience. The game is short but doesn’t overstay its welcome or feel lacking. I can gush on and on about every little aspect of this game.
I would call Inside a simple game. Not as an insult mind you. The game has a few tricks to spice up the puzzles but besides that it doesn’t do all that much. This kind of mentality either hits or misses and Inside gets it. It’s simple but it masters that simplicity and owns it every step of the
