Little Ann Chapter Summary
The book was very engaging and entertaining to read, but in some parts of the were unnecessary. Like at this one scene how Billy told his dad that Little Ann is “gun shy” but during the championship, Billy’s father brought a gun and it never mentioned about Little Ann being gun shy. But this book gives kids a great role model to look up and I recommend it to children from the age 8+ to read it. This book gives kids positive message to kids about loyalty, respect, courage etc. It also gives children a positive role model to the children that read the book. And Billy is willing to defy his mother but yet, not break a promise with a dog. This makes Billy a likable person and a great role model for children. In my opinion, you should read

    Summer Ball Book Summary

A few main things that i really liked about this book was once Danny got to the camp he was not favored because of who his dad was, in fact it made it even. Harder on him due to the coach he drew as Ed Powers. Page 53 explains why the coach was so hard on Danny as he was living in the past and made up the story of Richie Walker backing out of his offer last minute. I liked that in the book as it lasted all summer and made Danny prove himself at the camp and was not just a free easy pass as his dad was Richie Walker. One other thing that I really like and showed what kind of a kid Danny really was when he stayed in the younger kids group and his room mate Zach was having a ruff time and Danny was there for him and got him to end up liking and staying at camp instead of going home. I didn't really have any dislikes about this book as it included many other…

I didn’t personally like the book I thought it wasn’t very exciting. Maybe if the book was more exciting or had more twist or turns it would be more enjoyable. It did change my attitude about boys being smarter than girls but even when Calpurnia was talk all science to her brother he had no idea what she was talking about. I probably would not recommend this book unless you're more into having the same idea throughout the whole…

Events such as bullying are things some kids won’t understand. “ Tess got changed for PE in a stall today. What’s she trying to hide? #SheIsAHe” (Pitcher, 189). They make fun of her all the time, calling her a he. They also talk about how her mother gotten a sperm donor, and Jack is not her actual father. “I couldn’t give your mum what she wanted more than anything.” (336). Most kids under twelve years old would not understand the more mature events that happen in this book.…

    Hope Solo: Book Summary

Yes, I would recommend this book to a friend because it was a very touching story. For example, Hope's father dying really showed how much she loved him. This book was easy to understand and to comprehend. The story was good for a young reader, not a more advanced reader. The story was a relatable vibe that a young athlete would understand. I would one hundred percent recommend this book to an athlete.…

It has very tough issues and a lot of language. This would be a book for upper middle school to high school. This is a book you would have to be very careful with, you would need a lot of parent permission and a class/student that you could have great discussion with. However, that is not to say that it is not worth reading. I think that a lot of students today have a hard time backing down from an issue, even if it is meaningless, so this could really be relatable. Some strategies that could be used with this book include predicting, inferring, and making connections. I think that inferring could be a great strategy for this book because you can use the pictures and the text to find out what the author is really…

It had humor, real life events, sadness, and suspense. I would most definitely recommend this novel to someone because although it’s very long, you won’t want to stop reading it. This book will make you wonder, cry, even laugh. It’s a book that I think had great meaning and was put together very well. In my opinion, there is no flaws about this book except how long it is.…

This book was very different than anything I have ever read. I am still deciding whether I liked it or not. It was hard for me to follow because it kept jumping back in forth in time. The first three chapters I hap kept re-reading to focus and grasp what was going on. I was extremely confused and it went from the opening scene in 1931 to Milkman being four years old in one paragraph. I do feel this is a book you need to read over and over again to fully gain an understanding of the messages and symbols the author was displaying through each character. I thought the book was interesting that although it dealt with racial issues and focused on how characters such as Guitar and Milkman had different views of status and discrimination, their was very little mention of white characters in the book. The majority if not all the characters were black decent and it was purely one sided view on how the black race dealt with racial issues in a small town at that time. I think Pilate was a crazy character and I didn't like how long it dragged out to find the true nature of why her relationship was the way it was with her brother Macon Dead Jr. I feel like the author was changing the subject and jumping around so much that you never fully get to know any one character. I didn't like how the author killed Milkman in the end, it was as if you finally made some self discovery and then he jumps to his death. The book just builds and layers and builds, and when you finally feel like you might understand where it's leading three of the main characters die within the last pages. Aside from racial views and Milkmans self discovery from his life as his fathers son, to discovering his family history and where he wants to be in the future, I didn't really connect with any other character in the book, or understand their significance in his discovering…

    The Year Of Billy Henkes

The Year of Billy Miller is a prized book because it is a realistic story. Instead of relying on traditional stereotypes to tell Billy’s story, Kevin Henkes created a text that represents a variety of children. Billy’s dad stayed at home to take care of his younger siblings while his mom worked at a high school. Also, Billy faced struggles such as not wanting to be seen with his parents because they baby him. These are issues that most children face, and by including them in this text, Kevin Henkes created book that all children can relate to.…

The characters of the story were successfully described by the book. Sam a certain widower who unconditionally loved his wife and his only son. Jamie, Sam’s beloved son and Mel, Sam’s sister. Three individuals that had been frequent on every part of the story and together they conquer life problems. The story would affect whoever reads it especially those father and son. I came to like this book because of its unique concept and story. Well it’s not only about the realization of how awful and bad Bullying was, but it also told the love of father to his son. The distance that He might go just for his sake. When I first saw it on a bookstore’s bookshelf, I got hooked up with its front cover for the graphic representation drawn was good and eye-catching. But then, it wasn’t the cover that had always mattered. When I looked and read the backcover where the teaser and summary are written, I only then decided to take it. With its hanging question below the Title “How far would you go to protect…
