Little Miss Sunshine Act Structure Essay
The three act structure is an old technique that is still used in movies, plays, books, etc. It is used in the movie, Little Miss Sunshine, to tell the journey of Richard, Olive and the rest of the family to California for the beauty pageant Olive was selected to participate in. Little Miss Sunshine utilizes the three act structure by setting the story up in the beginning of the film (Act 1: the Setup), introducing conflict(s) (Act 2: Confrontation), and resolving the story (Act 3: the Resolution).
Act 1 is where the audience is introduced to the major characters, the storyline, and the conflict that will move the story forward. The turning point that marks the end of Act 1 occurs when Olive gets the call that she has been selected to participate
