Little Sister-Task 2
Speech for an audition to enter Little Sister
Hi, I’m Twinkle Star. I’m 21 and from America. I would like to join Little Sister 2013 because i think it would be a good experience for me and i would really entertain the audience. I really like getting in fights with people and annoying them. I think these are ideal qualities in a contestant because it would keep the audience glued to their seats.

Also, i think I’m good for this show because people love a rebel and someone who is not easily intimidated. I love a challenge and i think Little Sister is a challenge waiting to be broken, and i would love to be the one to say “bring it.” My hobbies include singing and dancing, which i don’t mind showing while on the show. I want to be the one to win Little Sister while entertaining millions of people in the UK. After all that’s what Little Sister’s all about, entertainment for our lovely audience.

Furthermore, Little Sister would really benefit with an amazing contestant such as me in it, as i would start fights, gossip and drive people mad, leading to major havoc. I would love to be in Little Sister as the prize money means alot for me. I need to buy a flat or house for myself and my sister. The place we are living in now is a total wreck and need to move as soon as we can. Little Sister is our best chance for this. Our jobs as beauticians do not pay enough to suffice. We only earn enough for food on our table and our rent. We are unable to move. Also, our beautician jobs require the latest clothes and the fashion changes every minute. We are unable to keep our reputation AND manage to live a normal life in a normal house. Therefore, i need to be selected for this show in order to start our life and be back on track.

Little Sister-Task 3

The Catcher in the Rye, a classical novel, embodies the effects of sibling rivalry, but instead of present-day, the novel portrays this in the 1950s. Holden Caulfield, the protagonist, was repelled by his brother, D.B., because Holden thought that his brother was a fake, who worked in Hollywood, and ended up hating the peers in his school that were thought to be popular. Holden, in despise, referred to D.B., “Now he's out in Hollywood, D.B., being a prostitute. If there's one thing I hate, it's the movies. Don't even mention them to me" (Salinger 2). Holden was closed off from his brother, and was jealous of him, which he had shown off as hatred towards the film industry. Holden as he related to his brother saw his colleagues that were popular…

Tomson Highway’s The Rez Sisters is the play about seven related women who live on a reserve and go TO THE BIGGEST BINGO IN THE WORLD in Toronto. The play takes place during a summer of 1986, on the fictional Wasaychigan Hill Indian Reserve on Manitoulin Island, Ontario, and provides the portrait of seven Rez sisters who are all related by birth or marriage. The distinct personalities of each character are used to offer the audience a different attitude towards life and their role on the reservation. The seven women organize a road trip from their Indian reserve to Toronto to participate in THE BIGGEST BINGO IN THE WORLD; each woman dreaming of winning the bingo jackpot and what the life changing fortunes it will bring them. There are several symbols in the book, including Bingo, Nanabush, and the comparison of the numbers 7 and 3. The symbols reinforce the sisters’ lacking physical needs and their powerlessness to destruction around them.…

The girls can compete and have some fun and later in life earn money or scholarships to further their actual careers in the future. The extremes though those mothers will take to get their little girls to win can be way too extreme. Toddlers and Tiaras have publicly shown that not only can these competitions be stressful but in some ways abusive and terrible acts of behavior. Multiple little girls on this Television show display no respect to mothers and one little girl was caught on film slapping her mother. Another mother had her daughter “smoke” a fake cigarette on stage to go with her outfit. Not only did these girls show disrespectful behavior but showed other little children that it is okay to act this way. Another instance is what some consider being abuse to the children competing in the pageants. One daughter was held down so her eyebrows could be waxed. The mother stood by telling the camera crew that she was only scared to get her eyebrows waxed because one time the wax was too hot and pealed her skin off. The daughter kept saying she didn’t want to get her eyebrows waxed but the mother forced her to. Clearly this was an instance of abuse, not a normal one but still you could tell the child was in pain. One very famous little pageant girl as most people know her Honey Boo Boo.…

My essay is about the power of siblings. Both in The outsiders and my essay Siblings bond over death or the thought of death. In The Outsiders Ponyboy and his brothers, including the greasers bonded over the death of his parents and Jonny, their good friend. It’s sad but true, people tend to get closer when they realize how short life is. My brother and I bonded over the fact that we would have to help my mom together. Being able to have someone there for you can give you a sense of safety because believe or not the closest person in your life should be your sibling. I feel bad for people who don’t have older siblings or lost them because they will never know what it’s like to have someone who already went through what you’re going through.…

Emotions are very powerful qualities of humans and often create big impacts on one’s decisions and actions. In the novel The Sisters Brothers by Patrick DeWitt, the main character Eli begins to understand this idea after he meets the lobby lady at a hotel and falls in love. After experiencing this love for the first time, Eli discovers a new path and as a result, becomes a kinder and more conscientious person. He begins to care for his family members and wants to get closer to them rather than push them away like he has in the past. He also becomes more of a leader, acting on his own decisions rather than always following what others, especially his brother, say. Finally, as the story progresses, Eli’s morals begin to form and solidify,…

David Isaacs said “let children be children,” is a good way to understand the concept of a child’s life and that their fate is to be set free and have no care in the world. This is taken too lightly when parents realize that they could earn money for their child winning a pageant. The only desire for a child to become interested in saying no is if they really had the education of what is about to happen to them. Taking this sort of opportunity away from a child could potentially save their lives, and their emotional…
