Lizzie Borden
Reasons why Lizzie Borden is guilty.

1. If not Lizzie, then who? Only Lizzie had a good opportunity to commit the murders. At the time of her mother's murder (around 9:30 A.M.), household guest John Morse was visiting relatives, sister Emma was out of town, Andrew Borden was running errands around town, and maid Bridget Sullivan was outside washing windows. Only Lizzie was known to be in the house at the time of Abby Borden's murder. To commit both murders (Andrew Borden was murdered around 11 A.M.), an outside intruder would have either have had to hide in the house for 90 minutes or departed and then returned without being seen.

2. Police found no signs of forced entry into the Borden home

3. Lizzie claimed to hear no noise. But her step mother fell to the floor after being hacked with an ax. Who wouldn’t hear that?

4. Lizzie told police that while she was alone in the house with her mother on the morning of the murder, a messenger came to the door with a note summoning her mother to visit a sick friend. Lizzie told people that she assumed her mother had left. Despite a thorough search of the Borden home, no such alleged note ever was found.

5. At the time of the murder of Andrew Borden, Lizzie claimed to have been in the loft of the backyard barn for 15 to 20 minutes looking for lead sinkers for a fishing excursion. Police found the loft so stiflingly hot that it was difficult to believe anyone would voluntarily remain in such a place for as much as 20 minutes. They also found no footprints in the loft.

6. Immediately after the discovery of her parents' bodies, Lizzie sent various persons who came to help off on various errands. It seems strange that a woman would choose to remain alone in a house if she thought a murderer still might be on the loose. 7. On August 7, three days after the murders, Alice Russell observed Lizzie burning a blue corduroy dress in a kitchen fire. When asked about it, Lizzie explained that she chose to destroy the dress

For starters, they did not collect the clothes that Lizzie had been wearing while present at the crime scene. This could have been helpful in the trial to persecute Lizzie if they had taken it and found traces of blood on it. Instead, Lizzie had kept the dress and later burned it, destroying any evidence that may have been on it. Investigators also failed to question people who were close with Lizzie (asides from her sister who was of no help). By questioning those close to her, investigators could have gained information about what Lizzie’s home life was like and if she had any hidden anger directed towards either of her…

Amy LaTour was sitting at her vanity before her death and that is how she ended up facing the ceiling when she died. That means she was able to see behind her in the mirror and would’ve been able to see the murderer. Lizzie Borden Has to be guilty. First her alibi ended up not checking out. Next was the rather shady behavior. Finally, the destruction of evidence. So because of these reasons her guilt will be proved. I will start with her alibi and others, and if they checked out. First off, John Morse must be innocent. According to the testimony (Morse, 1893) Mr.Morse was out the morning of the murder to run an errand and see his niece. This was in fact confirmed be his niece when she was questioned. Also, Emma Borden is innocent. According to (Linder, 2004) she was away from the home the day and time of the murders meaning she is entirely unlinked to the murders. Proof of this she was spotted at the presumed time of the murders and the time the bodies…

All of the chaos that Abigail caused started with one thing: Abigail wanted revenge on Elizabeth Procter. Abigail was Elizabeth’s serving girl until she was fired because she was sleeping with Elizabeth’s husband, John. Abigail was still in love with John and sought out to get rid of his wife so she could then take her place. She first drank chicken blood while she was in the woods to try to kill Elizabeth. However, it didn’t work and once the town found out about this, she said Tituba made her do it. Tituba was arrested along with the other “witches” that Abigail and Betty listed in their confession. Abigail saw how easy it was to condemn those innocent women and thought she could do the same to Elizabeth. Mary Warren, John and Elizabeth’s servant, had made a doll one day in court for Elizabeth. Abigail saw this doll and took note of the needle that Mary placed in the doll’s stomach for safe keeping. Soon after the…
