But I think for a lot of people they don't feel loneilness. They have friends they spend time with, but then they spend one day on a weekend alone and out of boredom they look at porn and masturbate.
So boredom for sure, but loneilness can just add the problem. But most people don't realize the best way to bet boredom isn't to do things alone (watching YouTube, playing video games, eating junk food, etc.), but to do something with peope you enjoy, to get out of the house.

I have found that both “Kick Back and Endure Being Bored and Uncomfortable” by Clive Hamilton, and William Deresiewicz’s “The End of Solitude” can be efficiently summarized with the great social psychologist, Erich Fromm’s quote, “If I am what I have, then I lose what I have, who then am I?”. Hamilton’s article reflects his view illustrating that he views modern technology as a deterrent for people’s natural ability to not only accept, but to appreciate absolute gratification of solitude. It is this concept of people’s growing disvalue of solitude that both I, and Deresiewic concur with (demonstrated in his essay). I feel that the ability of people’s easy accessibility to social media is nothing more than a barricade…

To be alone, is being able to learn not only yourself, but to learn to love and appreciate the whole world around you. Like the way when you walk through the forest and the newly fallen leaves smell of fresh rain and the upcoming winter. When you look in the mirror and see that you’re beautiful even with your imperfections of acne and scars. Being alone is okay, it lets you appreciate what’s around and helps you learn to love your imperfetions acnce and scars and the world before you find your love. I saw a video once and great words came from it, “lonerness is okay, it’s okay if nobody believes like you, all experience is unique.”…

Unlike doing something or having a career, boredom is about the time you have with yourself and your thoughts. I asked my roommate another question, “Do you think boredom is a choice?” Her response was, “Yes, it is a choice. We choose to be bored. We choose to do the things we want to do. We could easily go outside and take a walk around the neighborhood instead of laying around and complaining.” In doing so, that will give us the time we need to decompress our thoughts and have alone time that we need with ourselves. With technology these days, we do not get to have that experience. We get so distracted by the television or the next ad that pops up on our youtube videos. We need to take time to be bored and just decompress our thoughts.…
