Every day thousands of children and adolescences wake up afraid to go to school from bullying. Bullying is very negative and creates major problems for our society. Bullying can be triggered by a difference in race, sexuality, or a conflict within a relationship; such as a rumor. The effects of bullying can last a lifetime. The long-term effects are: victims feel more secluded from their peers, which can lead to suicide. Victims often get even and become violent towards the bullies. There are a number of reasons as to why someone could and is being bullied, however those few seem to be the main source. Children and adolescents who bully succeed on controlling or leading others. They have often been the victims of physical abuse or bullying themselves. Bullies may also be depressed, angry or upset about events at school or at home. “Children targeted by bullies also tend to fit a particular profile. Bullies often choose children who are passive, easily intimidated, or have few friends. Victims may also be smaller or younger, and have a harder time defending themselves.” (AACAP) Receiving physical harm, verbal abuse, or intimidation or humiliation through the internet are all forms of bullying. Every year, peoples’ lives are changed because of bullying, some never capable of recovery. It’s without question that bullying takes an awful toll on individuals and it must be stopped. Attempting to create a bulletproof system that would completely stop bullying would be irrational. However, to increase awareness of bullying through advertisements, through sources of media, as well as starting support and awareness programs, will significantly decrease the rate of bullying and provide better support for the
