Lord Capulet Responsible For Romeo And Juliet's Death
The Death of Romeo and Juliet Everything that happens has a cause. This statement also applies to how every murder that happens has a murderer. Sometimes it is the ones you love most that hurts you the most. Romeo and Juliet, written by William Shakespeare, is an example of that and though there may be guilt coming from more than one person, only one of them plays the biggest part. With that said, the character that plays the biggest factor in Romeo and Juliet’s death is neither Paris nor Friar Lawrence, but instead is Lord Capulet because he cares about only his pride and pushed Juliet to her limits. Admittedly, many think that Lord Capulet puts his daughter over anybody else, and blames Paris for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet, …show more content…
Though it may be true that Friar Lawrence was the one who told Juliet to “[t]ake thou this vial” (4.1.95), it is questionable on why he needed to in the first place. Lord Capulet is the one responsible because he yelled at Juliet. When Juliet refuses to marry Paris, Lord Capulet became enraged and started calling her a “disobedient wrench” (3.5.166). A father should not talk to his daughter this way. In fact, because of Lord Capulet’s actions, it pushed Juliet to seek for Friar Lawrence’s help and in turn led Juliet to drink the vial. Juliet’s father’s behavior was the cause of Romeo and Juliet’s death. William Shakespeare challenges his viewers to keep in mind that it is the ones we keep the closest to us, hurts us the most. While it may be true that the ones we love will least likely to hurt us, their actions can make an impact unintentionally. Although parents may not know, they do not always make the right choices for their children. Romeo and Juliet shows us there is always a cause in an effect, and always an effect in every

Friar Lawrence’s ill-thought out action was one of the main contributions to the downfall of Romeo & Juliet. His actions in marrying the two resulted in a long series of unfortunate events. He gave the poison to Juliet, he trusted someone else with a letter of such high significance to deliver to Romeo, and vanished when Juliet was in the most danger in the tomb. If he had not have made these three major mistakes the couple would still be alive. The Friar also sees the marriage as a way of reconciling the two disputing families. This point is proven when Friar Lawrence says “For this alliance may so happy prove to turn your household’s rancour to pure love.” The nurse also leapfrogs off of this, giving Juliet the idea to get married in the first place. “Go, girl, seek happy nights to happy days,” she says. Both the Friar and the nurse get the children into the mess, but don’t bother to help them out of it. They don’t take responsibility for their actions. When Juliet needs the nurse, she betrays her by telling her to marry Paris and to forget about Romeo.…

I don't believe any person or occurrence is to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. I think the combination of fate, history, circumstance, and personality were what killed them. In terms of history and circumstance we must remember that marriages were arranged back in the sixteenth century. This is a really important point to consider because the lovers rebel against their custom. In my opinion this is a major cause of their deaths.…

There are many people in “Romeo and Juliet” who attributed to their deaths. The first person to blame is Friar Lawrence because he trusted somebody else to deliver the message. The second to blame is Friar John because he was supposed to send the letter to Romeo stating that Juliet was not actually dead. The third person to blame is Tybalt was an angry person who fueled the events that happened. As a result, Romeo and Juliet would have maybe had a chance to live happy ever after if it wasn’t for those three people action.…

Some characters who are more commonly blamed are Romeo and Juliet themselves. With their headstrong personalities, and love, which seemed so sure, they had in fact condemned themselves. Romeo was the first to promote the relationship at the Capulet's party. It was a case of 'love-at-first-sight' for him, so he felt obligated to seek Juliet at her balcony,…

Lord Capulet was responsible for Romeo and Juliet’s death because he was being really harsh on Juliet's choice on her future.Juliet's father told juliet that if she didn't marry paris she was going to be in big trouble. He mistreated her and said “Hang thee, young baggage! Disobedient wretch!I tell thee to a church Thursday or never after look me in the face” Had he not said that,it would've made Juliet not worry on what she will do and not ask Friar Lawrence for the sleeping potion and play dead.Lord Capulet also arranged the marriage between…

Shakespeare once wrote in The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet “The dashing rocks thy seasick weary bark!/Here’s to my love! [drinks] O true apothecary!/Thy drugs are quick. Thus with a kiss I die” (V.III. 118-120). Directly after saying this, Romeo takes a poison and dies in hopes that he will spend the rest of eternity with the one he loves--Juliet. Both Romeo and Juliet commit suicide because Romeo thinks Juliet had died so he takes his life for her, then when Juliet wakes up she takes her own life because Romeo has died. How our two star-crossed lovers died was never in question, but who is most to blame for their deaths, is. Many say that there are other people in the play that are to blame for their deaths. Juliet faked her death using a plan given to her, that is why it is Friar Laurence’s fault that Romeo and Juliet both killed themselves, and he is the one to blame.…

Not including Romeo or Juliet, the whole Montague and Capulet family is to blame. If Lord Capulet had not made Juliet marry Paris like it says here,”Marry, My child, early next Thursday morn/The gallant, young, and noble gentleman,/The County Paris…”(3.5.112-114), then she would not have bought the poison so she could fake her death and be with Romeo. If their families had not started the feud, then Romeo could have married Juliet without any affairs in the way and no one would have been killed. Mercutio would be alive because Tybalt would not have detested the Montagues. Tybalt would be alive because Romeo would not have been angry with him for killing his best friend, Mercutio. Paris would also be alive because he would not have fought with Romeo at the tomb of Juliet.…

A perfect example of this is Juliet's arranged marriage to Count Paris. Juliet was only thirteen years old, yet her parents were making major adult decisions for her to satisfy their own need. Although Juliet was still mourning the loss of her loved cousin, Tybalt, Capulet and Lady Capulet disregarded her feelings and moved on by planning her marriage to Paris the same day Tybalt is killed by Romeo. "…much of grief shows still some want of wit." (III, v, 76) This is Juliet's own mother telling her that her mourning is stupid. A mother who truly cares for her daughter's well-being would help her get through the tragic death of Tybalt and try to lighten her grief. In response to Juliet's refusal to marry Paris, Lady Capulet once again manifests a care for herself over her weeping daughter. "I would the fool were married to her grave." (III, v, 145) This is, not only foreshadowing to Juliet's eventual suicide, but also a concern for her family name over her daughter's wishes. Capulet, Juliet's father, shows that his attitude is no better than his wife's. He becomes enraged and calls her such words as "green-sickness carrion", "baggage", "disobedient wretch", and "hilding." (III, v, 161-175) Such insults and harsh words show that Capulet is much more concerned with how he will be viewed by Paris and Paris's kinsman, Prince Escalus of Verona.…

Although it seems unfair to blame the victim, I blame Romeo for his part in his own and Juliet’s death. To start of, he goes to the Capulet party with a bunch of his friends, even though it’s very clear to Romeo that he is not wanted there. When Romeo first hears of this party, the servingman actually says “and, if you be not of the house of Montagues, I pray…
