The plot involves a plane full of British boys, between the ages of six to twelve, crashing on an empty island. There, they are stranded without any adults and as time progresses, the upbringing of the boys regarding societal rules and morals are tested as they revert into a life of savagery. Golding proposes a shocking revelation that human nature is naturally evil. This is demonstrated through mob mentality as well as hidden symbols throughout the book.…

The song I Just Can’t Wait to be King, which appears in the movie The Lion King, is about Simba yearning to be king. This mimics Macbeth’s state of mind after he hears the witches’ three predictions, the last of them being of him becoming a king. As soon as he heard the prediction, he got so enthralled that he didn’t listen to reason, or even question the validity of the witches’. In Act 1 Scene 5, in his letter to Lady Macbeth, he writes “‘Hail, king that shalt be.' This have I thought good to deliver thee, my dearest partner of greatness, that thou might’st not lose the dues of rejoicing, by being ignorant of what greatness is promised thee”(Shakespeare 1.5.9-12). He is evidently just as excited as Simba was while singing “Oh, I just can’t wait to be king!”…

The death of Mufasa in Disney’s The Lion King compared to the death of King Hamlet changes a few of the overall themes of the William Shakespeare play Hamlet. There are four major themes that are changed. Simba was present to watch his father die while Hamlet was away for school and didn't know how he died until later. Simba was later lied to by his uncle and spent his life believing he had killed his father. Hamlet knew the truth about his father’s death for almost the entire play. Finally, in the end, Simba doesn’t directly kill Scar, so Simba never sinned and rightfully earned the throne, while Hamlet committed the murder of his uncle. These events make the huge differences between the movie and the play.…

One of The Lion King’s primary focuses is leadership and power. Throughout the whole movie, it is a battle of who has power, who wants power, and who is the best leader for the circumstance. Mufasa, the king of Pride Rock at the beginning, and Sarabi, his wife, give birth to their son, Simba, who is next in line to become king. Scar, Mufasa’s younger brother, is extremely upset that he will never be king and have power. Mufasa is the quintessential “good” leader. According to the trait approach, which states that “good” leaders possess specific traits, intelligence, self-confidence, determination, integrity, and sociability are the most common traits amongst the best leaders. Mufasa, evident strong and brave, is also able to verbally talk to his community in a respectful and intelligent way; he has exceptional influence over those in his kingdom; he has perseverance in the face of obstacles; he is loyal to his family and friends; and he is courteous and friendly to all. Scar, on the opposite side, possess negative traits. Indeed he is very intelligent, but he uses his clever mind for nefarious doings. He only has influence over his Hyenas, and he is exceptionally deceitful to all. He is in no manner sociable because he refuses to live with the other lions, instead he mops around his own cave.…

In Vaughn and Henrichon’s Pride of Baghdad, there is both a divide and crossing of animal-human relationships throughout the text. Real human life events and emotions are depicted through the actions of several animals throughout the text. It does not depend on which species we are considering as both animals and humans often think and act in the same ways as illustrated throughout the text. Pride of Baghdad illustrates both the divide and crossing of animal-human relationships and emotions. The audience is first introduced to Safa, a lioness blind in one eye.…
