Lord Of The Flies Piggy And Jack Similarities
Similarities and differences In William Golding’s Lord of the Flies, the characters of Piggy and Jack display a variety of similarities and differences. Lord of the Flies is a book about a group of boys on a plane getting thrown out from a crash and getting stranded on an island. They are slowly figuring out the key to survival as the days and weeks pass. There are two boys who both believe they should be leaders of the group. Jack and Ralph both try to control and lead everyone.
Piggy and Jack both hope to get off the island at some point. In the first chapter they both want to find a ship and get on and go home. Towards the middle of the book they both start losing hope and think that they’ll be there forever. In chapter

After the fire started by the hunters consumes most of the jungle, Piggy emphasizes that “The first thing we ought to have made was shelters down there by the beach” (45). In the beginning of the book, as Ralph finds the conch, it is Piggy that instructs Ralph in how to blow on the conch and make the sound that makes Ralph the “man with the megaphone” (7).
