in their love. Mercutio stated “If love be blind, love cannot hit the mark”(2,1, 36). This line tells us love can’t be sincere if it doesn’t know how to truly affect the person. After Romeo killed Tybalt, Juliet was so upset that she didn’t see Romeo’s true nature, because of their blind love. “O serpent heart hid with a flow’ring face!/ Did ever dragon keep so fair a cave?/ Beautiful tyrant, fiend angelical!/ Dove-feathered raven, wolvish-ravening lamb!/ Despisèd substance of divinest show!/ Just opposite to what thou justly seem’st, A (-- removed HTML --) saint, an honorable villain./ O nature, what hadst thou to do in hell/ When thou didst bower the spirit of a fiend/ In mortal paradise of such sweet flesh?/ Was ever book containing such vile matter/ So fairly bound? O, that deceit should dwell/ In such a gorgeous palace!”(3,2,79-91). Juliet then remembers that Romeo is her husband, and because she loves him, she has to accept him. Therefore, their love made them see only the perfect sides of themselves and not the true sides. To continue, love overcomes hate and can’t be avoided.
Romeo begins talking to Friar Lawrence about how he wants to marry Juliet, even if they die soon after. “Amen, amen. But come what sorrow can, It cannot countervail the exchange of joy/ That one short minute gives me in her sight./ Do thou but close our hands with holy words, Then love-devouring death do what he dare;/It is enough I may but call her mine”(2, 6, 3-8). Romeo was telling him that no amount of hate will ruin his love for Juliet. To Romeo, marrying Juliet would have been enough. During the story, it wasn’t Juliet’s choice for who she wanted to give her love to. Her father was going to put her in an arranged marriage with Paris. According to statisticbrain, “6% of couples get divorced in an arranged marriage out of 53.25%”(https://www.statisticbrain.com/arranged-marriage-statistics/). Despite the fact that only 6% of arranged marriages end badly, Juliet was in love with someone else and was willing to die for it. While Romeo is confessing his love for Juliet he declared, “With love’s light wings did I o’erperch these walls, For stony limits cannot hold love out, And what love can do, that dares love attempt. Therefore thy kinsmen are no stop to me”(2,2, 71-73). Romeo was saying that if you love someone enough, nothing can keep it out, including stone walls. He was also saying that family members shouldn’t be a problem. Although, at the end they both committed suicide on themselves because they
wanted to die loving each other, instead of their rival families keeping them apart. Therefore, their love conquered hate. As proven by the actions of Romeo and Juliet, love is very visionless and it defeated hates control. Love is not honest and it can’t be eluded from. “Suicide among teens often happens after a stressful life event”(https://kidshealth.org/en/parents/suicide.html).Romeo and Juliet’s passionate love killed them at the end.
