All people have the right to make their own choices on who they love, right? Wrong. Think about all of the people who are homosexual. There are laws prohibiting them, telling them that they can’t marry the person thy love because of their sexual. Orientation. They can be together, but they cannot make it official because of a law. That would be like telling heterosexual people that they can’t marry the person they love for some reason. It’s a violation of the Constitution. The Constitution states that people have the freedom of choice. How is this being honored when gay couples cannot make the choice to marry who they wish to marry?
Homosexual couples should be given the right to marriage because of respect. People may say that they don’t “like” what homosexual stands for and they are not respecting their choices by saying things like that. I don’t necessarily agree with homosexuality, but I do respect the opinions and feelings of those who are homosexual. I believe in treating people the way that I would want to be treated. I know everyone can’t and will never come to a middle ground and accept homosexuality. Though gay couples that want to be married to one another, in my opinion, should have that right. Heterosexuals have the right to be with whom ever they choose to be with, why should it be wrong just because a person likes the same sex as himself or herself that they can’t be legally married?
The gay community is expressing their freedom of choice rights in different ways. I believe they want to be accepted as a normal American couple, in love, in marriage and in their pursuit of happiness. However, some communities cannot accept things that are not traditional. This country is based on spiritual love, Christianity and the love thy neighbor as thyself. Every choice that we make there is a consequence and social accountability for those choices. So if society is not prepared to accept same sex marriages, the couples should gracefully accept their reaction. Perhaps it’s the fear of the unknown. Lets face the plain facts, some people just don’t like changing the beliefs they have always lived by. Americans do not accept, woman-woman and man-man marriages, because of the traditional life-styles they grew up in. The customary man, woman marriage is what to been known as “normal” for most. The spiritual people will continue to respect and choose the old fashionable marriage over gay marriage but I hope that they will eventually learn to accept the changing ways of others and make peace the those who choice same sex marriage. However it is still know that we as Americans have the freedom of choice. This freedom was giving to us and should not be abused in any way. Every man, woman and child has this right to freedom of choice as long as that choice does not impose on others.

Marriage is individually chosen. The traditional love style is that men meet women; they fall in love and get married. Although in the homosexual love style men meet men and women meet women they fall in love and unlike heterosexuals they can’t get married. Same sex couples should be respected. They have the right to marry whom they wish just has heterosexual couples do. When choosing a partner the choice should be ones own. We as adults should know to accept the indifferences of others. The words “Life, Liberty and Pursuit of Happiness” wrote in the United States Declaration of Independence, gives Americans the freedom of selecting a partner that loves and understands them whether it be a man or woman. In this time of changes one needs someone to understand and comfort them and if they wish for is to be a person of the same sex then have written support to pursue their happiness. We should focus on our own happiness not that of others. Ask your self, who or what makes you happy and image if it was taken from you or there was a law stopping you from it. Whether gay marriage is unmoral or not, or if its right or wrong is not the question. Personal choice should be respected no matter what.

Even though many people have learned to accept the personal rights and freedoms of same sex couples. There are still plenty of people that cannot get pass the thought of same sex marriage as being unmoral and completely disagree with it. The strongest argument would be the biblical definition of marriage. “The grass withers, the flower fades, but the Word of our God shall stand forever.” (Isaiah 40:8) They clearly agree that Gods words and only Gods words are the words people should live by. They feel the word marriage is the life-long bond between one man and one woman. The Bible states “And that a man will leave his father and mother, and be forever united to his wife. The two shall become one – no longer two, but one in matrimony!” (Matthew 19:5-6) There for the term “Gay Marriage” would be considered an oxymoron to them, because it is the exact opposite of the Biblical Definition. Along with the biblical definition they say that same sex marriages are unnatural, and that we as humans are physically and genetically made to be able to reproduce only by way of heterosexual relationships. Which the Bible can support with Gods first words to the newly created man and women “And God proceeded to create the man in his image, male and female he created them. Further God blessed them, and God said to them, be fruitful and become many, and fill the earth and subdue it.” (Genesis 1:27-28). Those against gay marriage say that obviously it would be impossible to follow Gods will if a person chooses to practice in homosexual relationships. Lastly they argue the whole idea of making laws about marriage, including laws opposed to the support of gay marriage, goes against our forefathers’ philosophy of separation of church and state. It could be argued that the state does have the right to play a roll in how the government can pass laws to legislate who churches can and cannot marry. States should not have the right to amend laws, as long as no human is in danger, to what happens in the church. This would allow the churches to determine the religious rights and wrong to same sex marriages, and give them the option to or to not perform gay marriage within their church. Although theses are very strong and supportive arguments against gay marriage, they still do not give them the right to take away personal choice and freedoms from homosexual couples. People should be allowed, whether is be man and woman, man and man or woman and woman, to make their own individual decision to whom they wish to love and share the life-time vow of marriage with.
Gay Marriage, Yes? No? Whether one believes that homosexuality is accepted or unmoral is regardless. The real question of same sex marriage boils down to whether gay couples are worthy of the same legal marriage rights heterosexual couples have. This makes it more of a legal question then a moral one. We as a nation are based off the freedoms and rights for our citizens, then why are this poor people being denied their righteous as Americans? Their right for personal choice needs to be heard. No matter if you agree or disagree on the matter of gay marriage, we all know that every individual’s choice should be respected. Removing the emotion from the picture and it is simple to see that any couple who has lived together, depended on one another, shared income, property, have the everyday ups and downs of life together deserves theses rights, regardless of their sexuality or whether or not one approves their lifestyle.
