Macbeth s downfall
Macbeth's downfall is caused by his Lady Macbeth's persuasions, the Three Witches prophecies, and his own actions. Macbeth was going to kill King Duncan, but she just could not do it. One who introduced the concept of murder to Macbeth. Macbeth's downfall is attributed to a sense of over-confidence and unchecked ambition, and the impact of the witch's prophesy all three seal Macbeth's fate and his destruction. At the start of the play, Macbeth is a loyal, courageous servant of the King of Scotland, but he is a man who harbours a hidden ambition for power. He is both noble and brave in his defence of the King in battle, he is rewarded for his actions. Macbeth has an encounter with a trio of witches and his life is changed.

Once the witches show him his future, he becomes obsessed with speeding up the anticipated coming into power. He is told he will be King of Scotland, so Macbeth makes it happen by killing the King, which casts a shadow of doubt on his two sons, thereby allowing Macbeth to ascend to the throne.

Macbeth is also to blame for the tragedy of the play because without him being so ambitious and narrow sighted the play wouldn’t have turned out as it did. Macbeth was having concerns for killing Duncan and at once point even says “Proceed no further in this business” but his “vaulting ambition” gets the better of him. Macbeth is to blame for what happens after he kills Duncan, without him seeing the ghost of Banquo and shouting it out and also without him overreacting at Duncan’s death there would have been little suspicion of his involvement with the murder, without Macbeth’s ambition and conscience the play wouldn’t have taken the path it did.

Without the three witches intervention Macbeth would he never murdered Duncan. The witches could be considered evil because one of them murders an innocent sailor just because his wife didn’t give the witch a chestnut and the other witches help plot against the sailor by saying “I’ll give the a wind… And I

They persauded Macbeth to kill people only because they wanted to be benefited. they were selfish and not worrying that they would soon turn Macbeth into a crazed lunatic The witches delighted in chaos and toil. They did not tell Macbeth what to do but they simply showed him what can happen through their prophecies and the apparitions they showed to Macbeth. Macbeth could've been a perfect target for them to bring about this chaos. Macbeth is a strong soldier, he has killed enemies in war, and perhaps the witches knew his true nature("by the prickling of my thumb, something wicked this way comes..."). The extent of their influenced is demonstrated through their predictions, they are temptations and a form of flattery which Macbeth eventually gave into. On one hand, Lady Macbeth has the far greater influence because she is Macbeth's wife and they share a passionate relationship together. Just like the witches she flatters him, but this time it is a direct flattery and a direct temptation towards him. As far as Macbeth being changed into a diffrent person, he himself is responsible for his own actions. The final decision lies within him and this was demonstrated when he carried out the murder of King Duncan. Lady Macbeth acts as the catalyst for Macbeth. Macbeth realised that he would have to commit regicide (stars, hide your fires; let light not see my deep and black desires), but he was unwilling to do so. Lady Macbeth changes his mind by attacking his manhood, despite the brave acts he has commited as a soldier. She also flatters him shamelessly. The murder of Duncan sets Macbeth on the trail of evil, as he didn't consult his wife when he killed Banquo and Macduff's family. He didn't even care when she commited suicide. The witches represent the Three Fates in Greek Mythology. they connotate destiny, fate, etc. They delight and thrive in chaos and toil. In my opinion, the witches represent the primeval human emotions of hate and wickedness. They are all that is…

The first cause of Macbeth becoming king is that the witches told him that he would, in fact, be king. The witches had a vision of Macbeth being crowned, and when they summoned him he was taken up by the shocking news. He went home and told his wife. She, on the other hand, became quite aroused by the idea of royalty, and cursed herself to kill her conscience causing her to have a self-destructing thirst for hunger. Thus, rubbing off on Macbeth, leading to the second cause, which is a lust for power. Is Lady Macbeth To Blame

    • 830 Words

In many disastrous situations in life, people direct blame away from themselves, saying that their problems were caused by others. This happens in one of William Shakespeare’s plays, Macbeth; there is a great deal of debate over whether the witches, Lady Macbeth, or Macbeth was most to blame for the chaos that took place throughout the play. There are many things that influence Macbeth and his actions, but he himself is most to blame for the calamities that take place throughout the story because he willingly let himself become an overly ambitious, paranoid, corrupt, and murderous tyrant. At the beginning of the story, when Macbeth and Banquo are returning from battle, the witches prophesize that Macbeth will become the Thane of Cawdor and King of Scotland.…

The prophecies that the witches foretold to Macbeth played an immense role in fueling his passion to rule. These prophecies each held true to Macbeth in some way. Initially, the witches address Macbeth as the Thane of Glamis, which is what he is already considered as. This can be considered the first sign the witches know many things about Macbeth. The second prophecy stated that Macbeth would become Thane of Cawdor, which became true as the original Thane had been condemned to death as he was traitor. After being bestowed this title, the final prophecy appealed to Macbeth even more, as it stated that he would become the King of Scotland. Macbeth was confident in these prophecies because one way or another, they assumed that he would be very successful in life. These prophecies can be the ones to blame for igniting the spark inside of Macbeth that would slowly fuel his deep and treacherous ambition to rule. They changed his attitude immediately and from that point on, he was bent on fulfilling his future by committing actions that would lead up to each of these situations to come true.…

The people responsible for king Macbeth's corruption and downfall are the Three Witches, Lady Macbeth and Macbeth himself. The start of the corruption starts in act 1, scene 3 the witches have said “All hail Macbeth! Hail to thee, thane of cawdor. All hail Macbeth, that shalt be king hereafter,” The three witches ran into Macbeth and Banquo in the woods and tell the future to the both of them and what will happen. This moment is the part that started the corruption because now Macbeth can not stop thinking about being king and wants to become kind fast. Next, Lady Macbeth the husband of Macbeth has the greatest responsibility of causing his downfall. Lady Macbeth says “Look like the time; bear welcome in your eye, your hand, your tongue look…

All of these actions lead to his own death. All of these crimes that Macbeth has committed, has had no connections towards the witches or Lady Macbeth other than the witches telling him that he could become king. The first initial thought of it all happening was told by the witches, but the witches never said to kill the king. People are accountable for their own actions. With Macbeth killing the king it was his fault for doing it. Also with him killing the king makes the rest of the land go into chaos. It throws the chain of being off track and the only way to bring it back is to kill the one who took it off,…

Even though others think Macbeth caused of the tragedy of Macbeth, I still think Lady Macbeth holds primary responsibility for the tragedy of Macbeth. She holds primary responsibility because she’s one of the people that caused Macbeth to be so ambitious and confident. After Macbeth killed Duncan, he felt guilty. However after his guilt went away, he had no problem setting up the murders of Banquo and Macduff’s wife and family. Lady Macbeth giving Macbeth that push to murder Duncan is why Macbeth felt no remorse when murdering the other…

The witches are the ones to blame when it comes to how and why King Duncan got murdered. If the witches had not told Macbeth and Lady Macbeth of his possible kingsmanship then Macbeth and Lady Macbeth would not have gone crazy trying to make that rumor true. If one has the firmness of killing another, will that person collapse to the forces of guilt and turn themselves in, or will that person suffer the effects of guilt and try to live through their troubles? Guilt can cause many people to turn themselves in or can make people succumb into a deep hole. The witches are not responsible for the most evil in the play because they do not force Macbeth to act on his prophesy. They do not even try to persuade him to believe that his prophesy will come true. The witches are only responsible for telling Macbeth the future. Macbeth forces the witches’ prophesy to come true with his irrational actions. The prophesy states that Macbeth will become Thane of Cawdor and king of Scotland. He becomes Thane of Cawdor after messengers tell him that the old Thane of Cawdor was killed for inciting a rebellion. Earning this title makes Macbeth believe that if the witches prophesy was accurate enough to predict that he would become Thane of Cawdor, he would become king of Scotland as well. The ambition to become king consumes Macbeth’s thoughts. The witches did not tell Macbeth that he had to kill the king to wear the crown. The witches don’t influence Macbeth or Lady Macbeth. They merely give information that is usually misleading. Later in the play the witches’ prophesize that Macbeth will die when the trees at Birnam Woods move, and he meets a man not born from a woman. These two impossible…
