Making Learning Fun EW
Making Learning Fun! A school is the second home. A person spends nearly half of his lifetime as a student. Student life is the most precious time of one’s life because this age plays a vital role in the shaping of one’s character and also paves the way for his bright future through the most powerful tool, the Education. Education is one of the essential factors for a person to fulfil his aim. These all are some of the common sayings about learning and childhood. But what learning actually is. Simply sitting on a bench in a room with four walls around and hearing to all the lectures given by the teachers for about 9-10 hours with a recess or two in a state of physically present and mentally absent, can do no good for a student except a mere waste of time for both a student and a teacher. This type of being at school, not only makes learning boring but also useless. Then what a real learning is! A class should be an interactive one. A student should be able to respond to all the questions asked by a teacher, even though it is right or wrong. The net expectation is a student should be active instead of being sleepy. It is neither a fault of the teacher nor of the student. Still there are some ways to make the learning interesting, But what are they? Team work is one of the ways to have an effective learning because when students work together they retain information quicker and longer, they develop critical thinking skills, as well as build their communication skills. Not only has that it also reduced the stress of a student, if he had any, by sharing it with his team mates and able to become stress-free, so that he would concentrate in studies more than the one who is stressed. Field trips are a great way for students to connect what they are learning in school, with the outside world. They get a hands-on view of everything they learned in school, and they get to connect what they learned, to what they are seeing at the exhibit. Another reason is a practical learning is always better than a theory one. Technology is a great way to make learning fun again! Research has shown that using technology in the classroom can increase student learning and engagement. While using overhead projectors and tabletop computers can still facilitate student interest, they just may become a thing of the past. Apples' iPod, iPad and iPhone offer classroom apps that can meet all of your students’ instructional needs. Too many class rules and expectations can hinder learning. When the classroom environment resembles a boot camp, where is all the fun? It doesn’t mean that rules and expectations shouldn’t be posed on students, but asks them to be a few. Not only this, still there are many ways to improvise the interesting rate in classrooms. They differ from student to student. But most of the ideas or views of us are same. Finally, this is some of my thought to make a classroom Fantastic but also FUNtastic!
