The Value of Teams Worksheet

After reading Ch. 1 and 2 of Working in Groups, answer the following questions in 150 to 200 words each.

1. In what kind of teams have you participated?
In my many years in working for the state of Georgia, I have worked in several groups, but the one that stands out the planning committee that I was serving on with my co-worker. We were trying to organize a non-profit organization called It takes a Village. We had a rough start but we worked to together and everyone understood the main goal and we all got assigned certain duties and once we complete the assigned task we, always assisted the other team members so that we get the job done.

2. How is communication in a team different from one-on-one communication, according to the text?
Team communication is collaborative and every member contributes their input. A team consist on three or more members . One on one communication is between two specific people.

3. What are some advantages of teamwork? What are some disadvantages? Be specific
There are many advantages of teamwork , you will have more resources to choose from, each team member will bring their input to the table, you just have be open mined and listen before passing judgement. Cultural understanding. People may come from a cuture different than yours and their input might help the team see and things in a different light.
Some of the disadvantags of team work is that it is more time consuming and requires more energy and with teamwork regardless of how well they seems to work there will be conflict and problems with people. For example you may have a know it all in your group and everything has to go their way or no way and they always wants to be incharge.

4. Identify and describe the stages of team development.

There are 5 stages of team development , they are, Forming, Storming,Norming,Performing, and Adjourning.

    One advantage is when working in a team everyone’s strength and expertise can be utilized and responsibility can be distributed. (Goodman, 2015) Typically, teams are formed by the expertise of each person that is need to get the job done.
