Maltz Hierarchy Of Sexual Interaction
The Maltz Hierarchy of Sexual Interaction is an attempt to offer both men and women, regardless of sexual orientation, a progressive framework for understanding and evaluating sexual behavior. Because it describes conditions for optimum sexual interaction, it can help individuals grow and evolve as sexual beings, channeling their sexual energy toward more deeply fulfilling interpersonal experiences.

An example for each level of hierarchy...

Level +1: Role Fulfillment -- The first level on the path to connectedness, leading to enhanced self-esteem and intimate bonding. At this level, sexual energy is channeled in terms of social customs, typically based on well-defined gender roles. Society provides a template for such behavior, defining

The final key feature is Freud’s view of the psychosexual stages of development. He says humans pass through a series of discrete psychosexual stages of development. These stages are the oral stage, the anal stage, the phallic stage, the latency stage and the genital stage. At each of these stages, pleasure is focussed on a particular part of the body. Too much or too little of any stage can result in fixation and lead to various psychological…

He developed stages in which the libido, or sex drive, was attracted to different zones. In each of the zones, built up sexual tension is able to be released. The first stage is the oral stage and relates to the child’s pleasure in nursing from their mothers breast. The second stage is the anal stage. This relates to the pleasure a toddler receives by controlling their bowels and releasing their bladder. The third stage is the phallic stage and is when the child explores the pleasure of their genitals. The fourth and final stage is the latency stage. In this last stage the sexual feelings of the child are…

The successful completion of this developmental task relies on the resolution of earlier stages. For example, it may be difficult to establish intimacy if you haven't developed a basic sense of trust or a sense of identity. Young adults must learn how to develop intimate relationships with other adults. The alternative is alienation, isolation, a fear of commitment, and an inability to depend on others.…

According to Erikson, there are eight stages of life. They are infancy, early childhood, childhood (play age), childhood (school age), adolescents and young adulthood. I just turned 34 this month and I know psychologically that I am in the adulthood portion of my life. Over the years I have caught myself asking questions like; who am I? And how do I fit myself into society? I would say over 10 years ago I began the sixth stage of my life, intimacy versus isolation. When I finished high school I thought I found that special person until I noticed that we became different people. I wanted more out of someone to be able to date and be able to fall in love with the right person. The relationship between the two stages is complex and many people define themselves through intimate relationships with others; and other proper sequence of the stages can be reversed in many people. Woman in the society traditionally exemplified a merging of intimacy and identify issues such as woman identify being defined by her intimate relationships. Sometimes it can be hard to separate the differences between the development of intimate relationships and adult itself.…

Current Psychosocial Stage of Development: In looking over Erikson’s psychosocial stage chart I have come to the conclusion that my current stage of development is Intimacy versus Isolation. Erikson states that this stage of development usually occurs in early adulthood. According to Erikson the positives of this stage of development are sharing with family, friends, coworkers and partners about all work, thoughts and feelings. The negatives include avoidance of intimacy and superficial relationships. (Cervone & Pervin, p 102 )…

The theory of social penetration is at the basis of every formation of a new relationship. This theory is an interaction between people who slowly learn about each other at first formally and then informally. Social penetration is defined as revealing ones self to others, this process is cautious and slow and some are more cautious then others. When people meet for the first time, they tend to share information, which is general and limits the range of the topics they discuss. As these people learn about each other and time passes the depth of their disclosure increases thus revealing personal information. The breadth of disclosure increases and the individuals…

The next level I would like to analyze is Red. Red to me doesn’t represent being egocentric or saying I’ll take what I can get now and not care about the consequences. Red to me represents the fight in people to survive. When faced with feeding my family and keeping them safe from harm I am more than willing to take chances, be spontaneous and seek out the power I need to make that happen. The last level I will analyze on my acceptance side is Blue which happens to be my highest level. Reading the description of what blue represents I can see a good picture of who I am at that level and why I scored so high there. Every person on this earth is motivated by something, whether money, power, love, or family, this gives us purpose, and without purpose we feel useless; My purpose in life is my family, they give me the strength to carry on and to seek out the things I never thought were possible for myself; Blue also states a form of Guilt-based sacrifice which I couldn’t agree more with, I can look at my own life and see me doing…

Bestiality is the practice of sexual activity between humans and non-human animals, or a preference for or fixation on such practice. Bestiality is also known as Zoophilia and, people who practice zoophilia are known as zoophiles, zoosexuals or simply "zoos". The word zoophilia is usually used to mean a sexual preference towards animals. People who identify as zoophiles may feel their love for animals as romantic rather than purely sexual, and say this makes them different from those committing entirely sexually motivated acts of bestiality. Not all zoophiles act on their sexual attraction to animals.…
