The Guidelines, procedures and codes of practice relevant to my work are:
Guidelines: How to answer the phone, how to use office equipment i.e. the franking machine and tannoy system. The appropriate dress code in the workplace and how to store and file items. Procedures: How to sort and distribute incoming and outgoing mail/deliveries, how to report staff absence, signing in of employees and visitors, what to do in case of emergency i.e. fire and accidents. Codes of practice: There are no codes of practice relevant to my role. A code of practice is something a business puts in place for certain roles within the business i.e. at my work there is a code of practice in place for the fork lift truck drivers to follow which explains what they must do when using the trucks to ensure the safety of themselves and others. It outlines what they should do at the start of every shift, their responsibilities and procedures they must follow.

The purpose of planning work is to ensure that you can complete the work on time. By planning your work you will be able to estimate how long a task will take and therefore work to a realistic target. It helps keep your work organised and helps reduce the risk of duplicating information. By planning your work you can ensure you have everything that is required i.e. resources, documents and tools. Planning your work will also help you work more efficiently helping you manage your time appropriately. By being accountable to others you ensure that you are doing what is expected of you and ensure that your work is good quality to the standard expected by your company.
