Power Base Inventory

According to the power base inventory these are the results in percentages. I score 50% in Information, Expertise, and Authority. One of the sections I was a little surprised because I do believe in reward but do not use it as an incentive to get people to like me, the score was 40% and 10% for goodwill. When I find out the score for Discipline it made me feel good and somewhat comfort. The score was 90% which according to the power base inventory discipline might involved criticizing undesirable behaviors, penalizing team members for rule violations, or firing team members whose performance in unacceptable (pg.18). Even though I do not have a lot of experience in management, I have seen managers been successful when they treat everyone equal without showing favoritism. Being a nice person is good because usually people like you and employees are happy to have a good guy as manager but it is also bad because unfortunately most people take advantage of it and start breaking rules. When they are not been punish for their actions the company can suffer the consequences therefore the manager will fail as well. The relationship between the manager and his employees should not be taken as your friend but as your mentor who will guide you and train you to be successful in your job. According to the books warning signals the use of punishment creates more stress, anxiety, hurt, and frustration than other power bases. When discipline is used repeatedly, the hurt and frustration can turn into hostility and conflict. I do agree but at the same time rules and regulations where created for a reason, I don’t mean that we should abuse of it but it is necessary in the business world to instill discipline and avoid mistakes. A manager could be the most knowledgeable person in the company but if his personality is like the nice guy, it would hurt the company and his employees. I believe we should always challenge our selves regardless of our position,

Throughout history, population growth has triggered many different factors in developing countries. Every country, business, and government has felt the impact of the unforeseen disasters and diminishing resources on our planet. I think one way that we can see these changes is through the “Latesvology Conceptual Model”. This model measures changes in society. The changes are economic, societal values and understanding the variances and pressure points that impact changes. Economic patterns over time are essential for understanding these changes, the two assumptions are “ that more is preferable to less”, and that the “ desire for more can never be satisfied”.…

I find the scores very surprising. According to "Mind Tools" (n.d.), “You're on your way to becoming an excellent manager. You're doing some things well, and these are likely the things you feel comfortable. Now it's time to work on the skills that you've been avoiding. Focus on the areas where your score is little, and figure out what you can do to make the improvements you need.” The "Mind Tools" (n.d.) website, I scored low on Problem Solving and Decision making. I got and 8 of 10, stating that I not comfortable in this area. I will take this information and work on building my Problem-solving and Decision making skills. However, I did score high motivating people. I believe people confidence and improve their job…

"The greatest of our evils and the worst of our crimes is poverty", a concept echoed in the character of Undershaft, which reflects part of George Bernard Shaw's idea of life. At a younger age,Undershaft had to choose between wealth and poverty and so it was a choice, as Shaw calls it in the preface, between "energetic enterprise and cowardly infamy". It is nearly a universal truth that any good piece of literature contains well developed characters and most authors achieve this by providing background and dialogue for the main character '?s that helps the reader to identify with each character. In "?The Lady with the Dog"? however, Anton Chekhov expresses the metamorphosis of Gurov and Anna Sergeyevna, as well as their relationship, not through dialogue, but by providing symbolism throughout the setting of the story. From the first scene through the end of the story the setting plays a crucial role in expressing the emotions of the individual characters as well as the blossoming relationship between them.…

Unfortunately, many people cause discipline problems in their workplace. It is the responsibility of the supervisor to deal with discipline problems. Discipline for employees is important and is one of the most difficult areas of supervision. (Bielous, 2005) Most managers just want all employees to work, get along and follow the rules.
