Human resource management-managing equality and diversity
Question one
As a global financial services organization, Parker-Jones has made tremendous steps in managing equality and diversity in the organization. This is because the issue has not been a priority for many organizations. Parker-Jones wants to retain and attract the best talents. By doing this, it will be able to maintain its brand reputation and even secure a better competitive edge in the industry. There are some instances in the Parker-Jones case that if properly used, they have a great contribution to achieving equality and diversity in an organization. As reflected in the case, diversity and equality cuts across many aspects of human resource management. Some of the issues that have been captured include managing work-life balance, gender diversity, and ethnic diversity in the workplace among other issues.
The organization has made a tremendous step by initiating the employee resource group, which facilitates the discussion of workplace issues by diverse employees and assists in the promotion and recruitment networks and mentoring programs (Bond, 2007, p. 17).
