Managing Time Analysis
Managing time wisely on the floor and coming back to a patient room when initially promised is important because patients really take our word seriously. Patients really do appreciate when we come back when we say we are and if we don’t they appreciate when we apologize. Patients feel like they’re being listened to and that we care about them when we hold to our word and take care of them accordingly and on time. In the article, it takes about patients’ experience of being hospitalized. Patients are sensitive to the hurried pace of the hospital and they can feel a sense of unimportance when staff members are quick to dismiss them or don’t take the time to really be there in the moment with them. I realized how important time management was when I walked into a patient room later in the day and the first thing she said to me was, “You must be …show more content…
I realized I had forgotten to come back after I had told her that earlier in the day and I quickly apologized and went and got the supplies to help clean up the patient. She wasn’t upset at me but it made me realized that patient’s really do hold to our words and really do look for us to come back when we say. Managing time wisely and taking care of patients is important because it helps build rapport when you take care of your patients in a timely manner. My biggest challenge with time management is figuring out how to delegate in order to effectively manage my time better. As a new grad I think that’s what is going to be the biggest struggle for me moving into working as a new nurse. In my clinical rotation now, I am able to establish which patients to see first based on patient need and acuity. However, when things get busy, I do sometimes find myself scrambling to try and get from patient to patient. To improve this, I think that I personally need to work on delegating tasks and just asking for

If you are a staff nurse, each morning you check the assignment board to see which patients you 'll care for that day, gather your report sheets, and enter the conference room. You 'll listen to reports focusing on the important issues and jotting down notes to help you remember the items later in the day. Chances are that you have a system for taking report that even involves writing the important issues in certain locations on your report sheet for easy retrieval later. As you leave the conference room, you 're thinking about meds due in the next hour and organizing your medication cart. You make rounds on your patients and do assessments next. Whether you use a written list or a mental one, you 've already determined what important events need to be taken care of during your shift. Who is going to surgery and needs the preoperative checklist completed? Who is going home and needs discharge teaching and confirmation of transportation? Who is a first-day postop patient and needs…

In the essay by Chambliss’ essay, “Just Another Routine Emergency”, we learn of the best strategies that are used in the ER’s across the USA to routinize chaos. One of the main strategies used is keeping the public out of the work area. By doing this it helps maintain tranquility for the patients and the hospital staff. It is normal for people to panic during an emergency, but it is just the opposite for healthcare professionals that deal with these situations for a living. By using the rules of “visiting hours” it helps control the families, which Chambliss explains as “reality maintenance”. The hospital personnel draws a line that helps respect the space of the workers, the patients, and the families.…

In most setups, the nurse is not allowed enough time to foster a practical relationship with the patient to know more about his/her needs that should be catered to. As a consequence, the nurse may feel compromised, with the burden of not performing the job well or being unjust towards professional commitments. Nurses can also face over-work as a challenge, especially in situations where their work requires them to deliver more than they are capable of.…

For thousands of years, the struggling citizen has used social unrest to rebel against the status quo. They fight, they loot, and they destroy. They are overcome with anger, and willing to take that anger out on anything and everything. Their anger often comes from inequality, high taxes, poverty, and an overbearing government. However, those in power tend to do whatever possible to keep things the way that they are. The social elite send police or soldiers as a show of strength to keep unruly citizens in check. The clash of those wishing for more power and those trying not to lose any causes violence and destruction. The music video for “No Church in the Wild” by Kanye West and Jay-Z featuring Frank Ocean and The-Dream is an attempt to show this clash of power. They simply show a riot. There is no explanation or conclusion. Nothing is solved and no problems are presented. The riot could be any riot. Each viewer can leave the video with different conclusions. This personalizes the experience, allowing the viewer experiences and ideology to influence their thoughts. Who’s side they take, and their thoughts on the cause of the anger likely come from their beliefs on actual rioting. The music video “No Church in the Wild” uses rioting as a representation of young people’s anger the government.…

Good time management and organization skills are the key ingredients for success in nursing. A good tip is to always keep a clipboard with a list of the patients and information about them. Information would include how they use the bathroom, if they need to be turned or fed, or equipment they may have. A successful nurse assistant should be able to see the unit’s needs as a whole instead of only focusing on your present assignment. Prioritizing the patients will help one stay organized throughout the shift. Taking fifteen minutes at the beginning of the shift to organize the work assigned can certainly make a difference between a smooth shift and a hectic one.…

The profession of nursing has changed and grown immensely throughout the past century. Nurses’ responsibilities have increased; today, they not only care for the sick, but they perform advanced technical skills and are required to know more about medications, technology, educating patients on their conditions, and how to monitor changes in patient status. Increased responsibility coupled with collaboration of multiple disciplines, increased demands, and interruptions throughout the day, tends to place nurses in a position in which they will often forego their breaks or work later than scheduled in order to accomplish all of these tasks.…

The nurses see each patient typically hourly, to check the patients are eating, personal hygiene and skin integrity (B.Fitzsimons, 2011). Nurses also monitor vital signs for example blood pressure, to ensure the patient’s physical wellbeing is observed and action is taken if the patient deteriorates. Therefore the patient’s essential needs are met. The negatives to this approach is that the staff need to be educated in this approach, as it is not something they would necessarily do. In addition the nurse’s job is task orientated, moving away from treating patients as individuals. Even though that patients are seen frequently, the time spent with each individual patient is limited. Therefore emotional and social needs may not be met due to a time limit, reducing the opportunity for the nurse to sit down and help resolve a patient’s problem. Nurses often refer jobs to others as they are busy (Brown.L,…
