Mandatory School Uniforms In Ontario

There have been many debates about whether students across Ontario should be wearing a school uniform among multiple groups of people for years. Despite the opposing side, I believe school uniforms should be mandatory at all high schools in Ontario for a few reasons. Uniforms allow for quick preparation times in mornings. There would be no judgments among students based on clothing, and uniforms introduced in schools would prepare students for the uniformity of adult life.
With the introduction of uniforms to all secondary schools, Students all over Ontario would be able to get ready for school quickly. To begin, lates and attendance records would improve immensely across all high schools. Students would be able to dress for school more efficiently with uniforms, thus giving them more time in the mornings to arrive to classes on time. In addition, the time saved in the mornings would benefit the students as they would have increased time for breakfast. Studies have shown that students to which eat breakfast each morning perform better in schools as well. Also, with the addition of uniforms, students would be
able to get more sleep each night. Students would be able to lay out their uniform the night before and not worry about it in the morning. This would ultimately allow them to get a couple extra minutes of sleep per night. In general, the extra time saved from uniforms would benefit students severely.
The introduction of uniforms would ensure all students would be in the same garments, providing a safer school environment. For starters, there would be no bullying based on personal clothing choices. Students would all be dressed similarly, allowing no room for scrutiny on personal outfits. Next, uniforms would allow teachers to easily to tell who is a student or possible intruder. This would help the schools security measures and decrease violence from outside individuals in schools. Finally, with uniforms, teachers would not have to worry about dress code. This would allow them to focus on teaching and not distractions from clothing. In general, Everyone looking alike would create a safer learning environment for all.
Finally, wearing uniforms will prepare students for the conformity of the adult world.
When students obtain a job, there are uniforms at work that they will have to wear. These uniforms are there usually as a safety standard, or to show customers who is working. The sooner students get into the habit of wearing uniforms at school, the easier it will be for them to adjust to the working world. Not to mention, everyone at work will be dressed the same, therefore it is important for students to learn early on that clothing does not shape who they are. Rather, that it is there to make them easily identifiable at work. Lastly, uniforms will keep students clean and organised. Wearing uniforms will help develop great transferable skills, which will be needed in adult life. In conclusion, uniforms will teach students at an early age what it is like to be an
adult.
Overall, it is completely beneficial to students and teachers if all students were mandated to wear uniforms in Ontario high schools. Uniforms allow for quick ready time in mornings, there would be no judgments passed based on clothing, and wearing uniforms would prepare students for the adult world. It is in the best interest of students all over Ontario to wear uniforms, not only for their convenience but their futures too.
