Before I read the book I had some thoughts. How did this person get the name Maniac Magee? How this book won an award? In the book I could imagine the story happening in my mind, for example Jeffrey was tugging on this book he borrowed from a girl with this kid named Mars Bar. Something I found interesting was how Jeffrey could run away, find a home and have his family not finding him. Also that he could learn so many things like, library baseball, football and more from running away and surviving on his own even with no education. I remembered when I read this book called I Was So Mad by author: Mercer Mayer about how this boy was so mad, ran away and then came back home. I predict that Jeffrey will run back home to the West End after his whole adventure in the East End or start a new life in the East End. I would change the book by having Jeffrey’s aunt and uncle [guardians] divorced even though of their culture and talk about if they are worrying about him and what to do to find him. The book makes me feel confused and curious because, it always skips 1 part to another without telling me how it happened. For example the text said, ‘’he ran, a school appeared where there was this girl rushing to class’’, instead, he ran as fast as he could not knowing where he was going, then seeing a school insight and far away from his home. The book always doesn't refer Jeffrey as him, he, the author really refers him as it or even not saying
