He is right in this opinion on whether humanity is evil, and this is heavily depicted by the traits of hatred and unethical methods of control through manipulation in the book and in real life. Humans exemplify their natural evil through forms of prejudice found in the discriminatory actions in novels such as Lord of the Flies and To Kill a Mockingbird, along with real life instances with queer and trans people being hate-crimed for being part of the LGBTQ+ community. In Lord of the Flies, Jack addresses Piggy by saying, “Shut up fat” (Golding 21).
