Zone, written by Marcel Dubé, is an important novel in French literature which, in the first act, presents internal conflicts of love and importance of band. The story unfolds in the early 90's in Quebec in the fall, in a suburb of the city. Based on the introduction; "The beings we see evolving in this sad landscape" (pg 16), it demonstrates the environment vitality and disorder of the social system established in their society, which influences adolescents to participate in illegal affairs. This is why the book is titled Zone when they are confined in a period of corruption, to which they can not simply escape from. The main characters in the story are Passe-Partout, Chives, and Tarzan. US. During this act, the four smugglers wait at the hangar for their leader who comes from America with new cigarettes. During this, they talk about love and theft. But the group quickly realize that there is something wrong when Tarzan is late, and they start to worry. Passe-Partout, like the antagonist he is, went against Tarzan's conditions when they joined the group, stealing a person's wallet. But, what he did not know is that the wallet belongs to a detective who followed him to the hangar ... Until the band will disperse, Tarzan appear with the cigarettes. Later, the detective arrives looking for Passe-Partout and when he leaves he says "There are games that are expensive in life, you know" (pg 51), and that infers that he knows what's really going on. After the realization, Tarzan strikes Passepartout and expels him from the group because he is a traitor and says to Passe-Partout "You'll get out of here and you'll forget what you know" (pg 52).
