In the story, Margret Atwood talks and discusses the maids for a specific reason. I believe that she thinks that the maids had no voice, they are all females, and there death was not explained. That leaves one explanation that Margret Atwood is a feminist and thought that it would be important to include the maids and give them a much bigger part to show that its not ok to treat women that way. In the first telling of the story, it was never stated that the maids had restrictions as to who and whom they couldn’t sleep with. What also was not explained was why they slept with the suitors in the first place. That is why Margret Atwood found it to be intriguing to write about what actually happened and give the maids a voice.
