Marianne Should Be Paid: A Case Study
If Marianne is already earning the maximum range for her position, there are still ways that she can obtain more salary. Giving that they even have more money to give, the first thing she could do is present facts and present value for her request. This will allow the employer to see that her worth and ultimately force them not to try to maneuver or redirect their way out of the situation. She could also inquire on job performance bonuses. These are common in most jobs and usually after a ninety day review, there may be salary increases, benefits, or stipends that are rewarded.
In my opinion the surest way to obtain a salary increase is to apply to a higher positon. If you have the years of services, experience, and savvy of the environment,

    c) Summary: This article is about some former employees who worked at Marineland and have filed a petition with 77,000 names bringing awareness and urging the government to take immediate action to regulate zoos. Premier Dalton McGuinty recognizes the concerns behind the petition but wants to wait until the Society for the Protection of Animals completes its investigation and makes recommendations before he takes further action. Phil Demers is a former animal trainer at Marineland who quit after 11 years because he could no longer bear to see animals not being properly cared for and housed in inappropriate settings. He goes on to further add that his heart is breaking after watching dolphins swimming with their eyes squeezed shut because their water filtration system broke down and was not repaired.…

Personally I would recommend raising the rate of pay for the open positions, it would cost the company extra money to pay the higher rates, but the alternative is even worse, the loss of business would be enormous and it could potentially cause the downfall of the company. They could even combine the higher rate of pay with a benefit package to bring in employees; I think overall the cost of these options would surely be counterbalanced by the possible loss of business. In the end, everything is based on the dollar, if they are faced with losing money; the companies involved are going to do what is necessary, to not lose any money, that, as they say, is the bottom dollar.…

There’s a few ways this issue can be addressed. One way would be to talk to Ms. Brannen and advice her that there has been an oversight in her salary over the past few years and for the upcoming year the oversight will be corrected and her salary will be adjusted to $25,000 per year with no percent of sales bonus. Another way to address the issue is to fire the manager who should have reported this oversight to Finley and promote Ms Brannen to his position while adjusting her salary to $55,000 per year and explaining the oversight to her as well. One more solution to this issue would be to let things be the way they are since the company has been doing great and growing the way things currently are.…

Although the number of women in the paid workforce has steadily increased throughout the twentieth century, they have often been given little recognition for their contribution in society and continue to get paid less than men (Ferber, 2008). Some people argue that is due to lack of education or the type of industry they are in, however, that is not always the case. Many of these women are highly educated, with degrees’ and have the same experience as men who are working in the same field and position. Per, The American Association of University Women, women got paid only 80% of what men were paid in 2015 (AAU, 2017). According to the study, although education has helped, it has not solved the gap issue that exists between men and women. The…

All of the other directors, who were men, were earning more than £60,000 each. One such director, the finance director, had been given a 36.8% pay rise when he became a director, which meant that his pay was £65,000. Mrs. Bryne sent a memo to her boss highlighting the differences and was told that she ‘wanted too much too soon’ and that she should have ‘ignored what other people were earning.’…

The first thing that comes to mind is to talk about the issue. Staying silent and hoping for the best will probably never fix the situation, but talking to people about it can. The Huffington post article has many good examples of ways to close the wage gap. Talking about your pay with other people is a good way to get an idea of where you stand and see just how unequal it is, according to Huffington Post. Another good tip from the article is to speak out against the wage gap. Twitter and Facebook are good ways to be heard and to spread awareness of a big issue. I would make sure lots of people became aware and I would call out the upper level people who are responsible for deciding the pay. I would want them to feel pressured to equal the pay gap as quickly as possible. If the wage gap is to ever be equal, changes will need to be…

If perfection is impossible, why do people strive to be perfect? Perhaps, it is the icons of beauty that fill the advertising industry, or maybe, it is the degrading commercials that constantly remind women that they are imperfect. Whatever the cause is that makes women feel physically flawed, it has become an issue that leads to extreme perfectionism, depression, and a host of disorders among other problems. Women today suffer with anorexia, bulimia, self-esteem issues, acquire a large amount of debt, Botox, plastic surgery and implants due to the pressure to be perfect. What, in turn, is the root of this problem? There are many causes, but to name a few; women posing for degrading advertisements, the power and pressure society grants upon "beautiful" people, and sequentially other women striving to emulate a photoshopped unattainable image.…

Sue had joined the company a year later than Mary and yet her starting salary was $45,000, which was $5,000 more than the salary they had started Mary with. It is also $1000 more than Mary would receive after her 10% increase, which is $44,000. This revealed a level of discrimination and unfair treatment of employees since employees ought to be remunerated according to their input to the company. Mary had similar qualifications with Sue when she joined the organization and had put in hard work, which was recognized by everyone in the company. However, the fact that one year after putting in these efforts, she would still have lower pay than Sue, who had recently joined the organization made her have a negative attitude towards the company. Mary 's attitude towards the company changed and became negative due to this perception of discrimination and unfairness. The change in attitude will likely influence her ability to perform, and this may have a negative impact on the company.…
