To start it off, the article that I will be choosing and writing about for my formal writing project is "On the uses of Liberal Education" by Mark Edmundson, because not only does he have first hand experience about what he is talking about, but also provides facts from previous years with statistical means.
Since i am choosing an article written by someone with years of experience as professor in one of the most noticeable universities in the United States, my specific focus will not only be supporting Edmundson, but also coming up with my own thoughts that are supported by the author. To sum it up, my focus will be college students and why I believe that they are the problem with our current
education. The reason why I will be taking this position in my writing, is due to the fact that the author of "On the uses of Liberal Education" gives a straight forward answer as to how and why education has become the way it is, but also provides the necessities needed to persuade a reader in his reasoning. However, this is just what I believe that I want to do, if it does not work out or does not lead me to find more relevant evidence about my main topic, perhaps I might go against the author in some way, or take my ideas into a different route.
