• Historia de la empresa Citroën

Cuando un apellido se convierte en marca, entra dentro de la historia. Lo relevante es el símbolo en el que se convierte, fruto del reconocimiento, permanencia y reflejo de su adaptación al mundo.

Citroën entró en la historia en 1919. Cerca de 90 años después, la Marca acompaña los grandes movimientos de la sociedad, dentro de sus corrientes más diversas, en sus acontecimientos más cotidianos…
Visionario, André Citroën es sin duda una de las grandes figuras del siglo XX. Audaz, intuitivo, anticipado a su tiempo, dotado de un sentido admirable para la comunicación. Este hombre extraordinario, enamorado de la acción y la aventura, fue parte del origen del progreso social, económico, tecnológico y cultural de su época. A finales de los años 20 estaba construyendo uno de los imperios industriales más grande e innovador.

En 1913 la empresa de automoción Citroën debe su existencia a André Citroën. Se funda la Sociedad de Engranajes Citroën, los dientes de los engranajes se convirtieron desde el principio en el emblema de la marca y continúan siendo hoy, aunque un poco más estilizados, el símbolo de Citroën. Desde el comienzo de su brillante carrera, André Citroën revolucionó todos los métodos de producción, publicidad y ventas europeos, inspirándose en el ejemplo americano.

En junio de 1919 aparece el primer modelo de Citroën: el Tipo A. Es el primer vehículo construido en Europa en serie, económico y popular, y el primer automóvil francés con el volante a la izquierda. Su precio de lanzamiento fue de 7.950 francos, excepcionalmente bajo para la época. De mayo de 1919 a diciembre de 1921 se fabricaron 24.093 unidades.
Citroën ganó el premio de consumo de combustible en Le Mans en 1920. Su prestigio aumentó rápidamente y, en consecuencia, se incrementaron los ritmos de fabricación, llegando a los 12.244 vehículos.

La producción asciende ese año a una cadencia de 3.500
