Frequencies are commonly used for the initial analysis of a data set. Frequencies provide statistics and graphical displays that are useful for describing all different types of variables.…
Pollan argues, “Measured against the problem we face, planting a garden sounds pretty benign, I know, but in fact it’s one of the most powerful things an individual can do–to reduce your carbon footprint, sure, but more important, to reduce your sense of dependence and dividedness: to change the cheap-energy mind” (Pollan). Although Michael Pollan’s idea of everybody having their own garden sounds ideal, maintaining a garden requires dedication and commitment in which a majority of the population does not have. Additionally, the plan would not be completely successful as there are some individuals who refuse to partake in the action as well as the average modern day individual being too lazy to meet the daily demands of a garden since it requires physical labor. Though Pollan’s suggest seems to be a bit extreme, it is still a solution and an attempt to solving the bigger…
Healthy lifestyle choices are nurtured through gardening. They bring people together in a natural environment, keep them active and engaged with one another in a social setting, as well as teaches them economics, gives them a more intimate look at their food, and provides a great training tool for health and wellness. This joining together in these activities gives the people of the community a sense of loyalty and camaraderie (Litt et al, 2011). The benefits of gardening is almost…

This develops a wonderful reversal effect for the obesity crisis. Children can obtain proper nutrients through vegetables in the garden; while the work of planting and harvesting will simultaneously provide exercise. Furthermore, when you do not have time to tend to the garden; A whole community is available to pitch in efforts to grow the vegetables. Some flexible scheduling with neighbors would eliminate any chance that your garden is left unattended. With all of the convenient services this county has to offer, people have tended to become reliant.…
To a person who doesn't enjoy getting their hands dirty, it isn't easy to understand why someone would love gardening so much. After all, how could that much raking, shoveling, and sweating in the hot afternoon sun be enjoyable? The answer, of course, is that it is fun! Maybe, that is because gardeners have a much different attitude about this type of work than others do. And attitude is everything when it comes to performing any task. A little bit of determination and the drive to succeed doesn't hurt either. But that can be applied to anything. So it helps others to see our point of view when we describe all the aspects of gardening that make it fun to us. A few of the best of them include:…
Everyone may remember a time in their lives digging around in the sand box, enjoying the innocent pleasures of childhood, and thinking nothing of it. Some people may remember doing more than that; digging around in their own back yard, curiously poking at the earth enriching earthworms, and maybe occasionally helping out mom or dad by digging holes to plant seeds or potted plants. Among so many hobbies that can be taken up and pursued as full time jobs, the entertaining, creative, and therapeutic values of gardening top many other popular occupations for some people. Surprisingly enough, gardening is not always limited to dull activities such as mowing the lawn, blowing leaves, raking, and watering. Even though the activities listed may…
Some features they point out are that it uses land as a resource, is good for the environment, and that gardens are good. When someone decides they are going to have a garden they end up eating healthier less processed food. The healthier the food the more weight they will lose. When someone has a garden that person will eat at home more often and save money. Bittman (2013, para.9) said, “Converting 10 percent of our Nation’s lawns to vegetable gardens could meet about a third of our fresh vegetable needs at current consumption rates.” This states that if America decides to have gardens instead of lawns we will never have a shortage of food for anyone.…
Each morning I look out my window at our garden, and the surrounding trees. I listen to a symphony of birds, as the sunlight shines higher in the neighbor’s sycamore tree. A full night’s sleep leaves me thirsty, so I go to the kitchen for a glass of cool water. I know that the plants in the garden are also thirsty, and I venture outside to water them. The grass feels good between my toes and as I reach for a ripe tomato, a butterfly dips down into a flower. This garden is full of life, and I feel fortunate to know it intimately. Not only does my garden provide an abundance of organic fruits and vegetables that are healthier than most produce in grocery stores, but the work it takes to grow this produce requires constant physical activity that is great for physical health, and relieving stress. Cultivating a fruit and vegetable garden is a tremendously rewarding experience.…
Many people think of gardening as a chore. Others take up gardening as a hobby. Still there are others who could not even begin to give a proper definition of the term gardening. Anyway, do you love gardening? Actually, gardening offers many benefits to those who are willing to try gardening. The act of gardening goes back thousands of years. If gardens are beautiful to look at, imagine the pride and sense of accomplishment that the creator of such beauty can feel. Besides that, gardening is a great way to reduce stress, get a bit of exercise, be creative, and develop patience.…
Rooftop Gardening is a unique but unexplored content in our country. We have chosen this sector because of the ultimate potential it has for future growth and profitability. Many people in our country badly want free space to breathe freely rather than living in a four-walled cage. Children also lack proper playing grounds causing them to become addicted to computer games, watching TV leading to obesity. Thus, for people having this type of mindset, we have developed our business plan on Rooftop Gardening “Rooftopia”. We believe with this plan, we will able to solve the problems by establishing natural beautification of rooftop through flowers full of fragrance, giving adequate possibility to…
Many small businesses and nonprofit organizations assiduously avoid more than a cursory flirtation with marketing research because they misunderstand what it is and what it can accomplish. Five misconceptions often dominate managers’ thinking about it: 1. The “big decision” myth. You turn to marketing research only when you have a major decision to make; otherwise it has little to do with the details of day-to-day decision making. 2. The “survey myopia” myth. With its random samples, questionnaires, computer printouts, and statistical analyses, marketing research is synonymous with field survey research. 3. The “big bucks” myth. Marketing research is so expensive that it can only be used by the wealthiest organizations, and then only for their major decisions. 4. The “sophisticated researcher” myth. Since research involves complex and advanced technology, only trained experts can and should pursue it. 5. The “most research is not read” myth. A very high proportion of marketing research is irrelevant to managers or simply confirms what they already know. Often the research is so poorly designed and written up or so esoteric that it simply ends up in the bottom drawer. In this article I consider each of the myths and show why they are misleading. Then I suggest several approaches to low-cost research. The “Big Decision” Myth Too often, marketing research is deemed necessary only for decisions involving large financial stakes and in such cases should always be carried out. But research should be viewed from a cost-benefit perspective. Its costs are usually of two types—the expenses for the research itself and the amount of lost sales and lost competitive advantage caused by delaying a decision until the results are in. The benefits result from improving the quality of decisions under consideration. Any improvement, in turn, is a function of the stakes involved and how uncertain you are about the rightness of…
