I believe that music is a wonderful aspect of learning. All students should be offered the opportunity to discover and explore music in school. Music education helps students increase their cognitive skills in all areas of study. Every culture has their own style of music, therefore increasing the educational background of multiple cultures. Students with music education are in touch with their emotions, such as joyful or sadness. It’s used as therapy issues because it connects the body and mind. Offering music in school affects the brain, body and behavior, for example it can increase thinking process, get the body in motion, and change moods. Having a variety of music choices to be involved in will help with higher possibility of better lifestyle choices. Dropout rates decrease because having a student that is interested in playing band instruments will improve their interest in the school environment. Students involved in music education are less likely to experiment with drugs, alcohol, and negative behaviors.
Other than music being incorporated in all subject areas it is also a part of sports for motivation and support. For instance the school band plays at all home sporting events to encourage them to perform their best.
My experience of music in school was that in the fourth and fifth grade we had to create a music video as a group, we worked collaboratively on who was doing what part and it helped with communication skills, self-esteem, and thinking skills.
