The Problem and Its Setting
Reflexology is based on the principle that certain parts of the body reflect the whole. Reflex points, which are related to all parts of the body, can be found in the feet, hands, face and ears. These points respond to pressure, stimulating the body 's own natural healing process. The body starts progressively clearing blockages, re-establishing energy flows and balancing it, resulting in better health. Reflexology is a holistic healing practice used to help promote health and well-being. Reflexology relaxes while stimulating the body’s own healing mechanisms.
The Reflexology Association of Canada defines reflexology as a natural healing art based on the principle that there are reflexes in the feet, hands and ears and their referral areas within zone related areas, which correspond to every part, gland and organ of the body. Through application of pressure on these reflexes without the use of tools, creams or lotions, the feet being the primary area of application, reflexology relieves tension, improves circulation and helps promote the natural function of the related areas of the body.
Reflexology improves quality of life. With the help of this study, reflexology can influence each of the body 's internal organs and systems as well as impacting symptoms of illness. There’s a lot of techniques in using reflexology, we can either use hand reflexology, foot reflexology, etc. It is done by applying pressure to the feet and hands utilizing specific thumb, finger and hand techniques without the use of oil, cream or lotion based on a system of zones and reflex areas that reflect an image of the body on the feet and hands with a premise that such work effects a physical change in the body.
