What Is ALEKS? The ALEKS Lab is specialized math learning tool that diagnoses your level of expertise, assesses your learning and skill levels, and provides practice of topics that are unfamiliar or less than expert.
Things You Should Know About ALEKS:
Please make sure to utilize your textbook before and during the use of ALEKS.
Review how to enter your answers in the program. It grades your answer as right or wrong (without partial credit), so make sure you enter it exactly as stated. This means that if you forget a decimal point, negative sign, etc, your answer will be marked incorrect.
Take your time and try your best on the Diagnostic Test. This test will set your learning plan, so it is imperative to complete it to the best of your ability.
All grades from ALEKS will transfer to the course every Monday at 11:59 pm. Your work must be completed by this time or you will not receive credit.
You may only work on the slice of pie corresponding to the week we are in. Once the week is over, you will not be able to access that portion of the pie.
You may spend more time in the lab during week 1 based upon your diagnostic test, so plan accordingly.
Homework and labs will be graded according to the percentage listed in the weekly course content area.
How is ALEKS personalized for me?
The Diagnostic Test sets your individualized learning plan.
The lab is made up of concepts that you need to work on based on your score on the Diagnostic Test
Your weekly lab work is made up of concepts that were not mastered on the diagnostic test.
In ALEKS, you will be asked to continue working on a concept until it has been mastered.
