The love of Star Wars started around age six when her mother put on Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back and the character Yoda appeared on the screen. Since then the love has turned into an obsession that Mayce is not ashamed of. The reading started from listening to her mother read to her and her sister every night and then in elementary school there was a reading program that no student was exempt from. But throughout all this pain and darkness, a light shone through that still carries her through the dark times in present day; writing. At first it was short stories and attempts at poetry (which she still says she sucks at), then she moved onto wanting to work on larger pieces. During her sophomore year in high school she started a novel and it became her whole world. In class she had notebooks with her to write or jot down ideas, often getting in trouble for doing so, and at home she spent hours on her laptop typing away. Sadly, the computer crashed and Mayce, having no real knowledge of technology, didn’t back up her work or save it somewhere else. She lost 17 chapters of work and with it, her hope for the next few
